For the Canucks fans saying we want him, I don’t disagree with you but where does he fit? He’d be perfect net-front on pp2 but who comes out of the lineup and waived/sent down for cap reasons?

Petey - Miller - Boeser
Mikheyev - Suter - Kuzmenko
Joshua - Blueger - Garland
Hoglander - Aman - Lafferty

Immediately it looks like it would be Aman sent down and Lafferty playing centre with Perry on the right, but that means JT Miller likely has to go back to playing pk3 minutes again and I’m not convinced that’s the best idea for a team pk already in the mid-20’s in the league. If you don’t do that and instead take out Hog or Lafferty, you end up losing either of them on waivers because of the cap situation. Besides, what’s that say to the rest of the group given both guys are on pace for 16-20 goals?

First of all, if the Blackhawks, of all teams, kick you out so fast after signing you to a lucrative deal, you have major issues.

Secondly, and this is very important, if you go on hiatus to "fix your self-avowed problems", you're not going to be ready to jump back into the same high-pressure competitive environment in 7 weeks.

It simply doesn't work like that.

Considering the above, and adding the fact he is an extremely slow, old and declining player, I just don't see any upside for a team to pick him up.

The Blackhawks are still in PR hell. You could swear from stubbing your toe and they might kick you out right now

So you can cancel contracts in this league for “Reasons Unknown”. Even if those reasons don’t warrant you not being allowed to play in this League per the Commissioner.

Sharks did something similar with Kane, when they were allowed to cancel his contract and cap hit for Covid issues. An independent arbitrator ruled the Sharks were in the wrong and are now topping up Kane’s earnings. But still, the Sharks got away with getting rid of the cap hit.

Teams with bad contracts should start using these special strategies.

In fairness, Blackhawks are also one of the first teams that need to prevent future damage to their organization. So while you might be right regarding having major issues, it could also be Blackhawks being more Strick than you would normally see, and wanting to prevent more negativity.

We shall see what happens but according to TSN radio there is mutual interest between the Leafs and Corey Perry.

It was by Carlo Coliacavo on First Up

Was settled before arbitration, between Sharks and Kane.
