IIRC he's only the 2nd goalie in the last 40 years to win the Vez and not make the playoffs.

Reminds when in juniors our goalie was frequently the 1st star of the game besides opponent scored 10+ goals. Feels like blasphemy.

Knew he had it in him since Jr's, just wasn't sure he'd ever get recognition playing for the Jets. If our D wasn't so stinking terrible he probably wouldn't have won (because of the Winnipeg factor, not his skill), but he stood on his head for us this year and no one could deny it. Congrats!

Coincidentally, he also plays the same position of the three players you've lost.

Now start the season with this team. How many teams in this situation are going to make the playoffs?

All true - but doesn't change the fact stated in the post you quoted. Explains just how bad the D in front of Helle was. Doesn't make it better.

Huh? We lost the play-in to Calgary. We did not make the playoffs. We were not in a playoff spot because the season hadn't ended. The NHL had to come up with a scenario that was 'fair'. So teams that were close to a playoff spot, on the bubble (from a points %) entered a qualifying round or play-in series to see who would make the playoffs. We didn't make it. We didn't participate in the playoffs. We got walked by Calgary in the play-in series. It was ugly. If you missed it, you are better off.
