I really like his tournament. I talked with Stephane Waite during 2nd intermission in Belleville and he said that he was a very good project. I said he reminds me Carey Price. He was agree. But time will tell. But liked his game overall. He had tough save to make and he made it

from what i've heard Price is his favorite goalie and he actually models his game after Price, I'm sure he's going to be stoked to get to learn from him at camp.

Said it in the GDT but this kid is going to make things really, really interesting in about 2-3 years. I’m pumped for him, though.

I really like his game in Belleville when i was there. Tonight again. I liked his game. This guy seem to be soft like price but is very quick for his size. I watched him durant WJC too. I didnt watch 1000 game of him. Maybe 5/6. But everytime he was good. One of our top prospect imo

This kid's last couple of years have just been amazing. Not sure what his ceiling is but the Habs will have a decision to make in couple years.

Looking forward to what he can do in the AHL this season.

2019-2020 AHL
2020-2021 AHL
2021-2022 NHL backup (15-20 games)
Primeau's ELC end. Try re-signing to 2 to 8 year deal at decent price.
2022-2023 NHL backup (20-30 games)
2023-2024 NHL backup (30-35 games)
2024-2025 Starter 1B (35-40 games)
2025-2026 Starter 1A (45-50 games)
Price contracts end. Either re-sign him as backup or get another goalie (maybe Dichow)

That's a pretty conservative timeline and I'm not sure how Primeau would feel about that.

I'll agree with the first two years and we'll see after that. Predicting too far into the future in professional sports is too difficult. Way too many variables.

True. the Fleury situation went all in favour for Matt Murray. At the end of the day, its who plays better when the time comes

Kinkaid is only signed for one year so if Cayden is ready to back up Carey for 30 games next season this could spell wonders for Careys longevity in his career.

If Primeau become a real stud earlier than expected it will be one hell of a decision to make for the habs... I would try to get the best return possible for Price and try to make him wave his NMC.

Caufield
Primeau

Romanov

the problem is you don't want him sitting too long since he's still so young. We'll see how things go for him in the AHL this year and with Price as if the Habs miss the playoffs again and don't do much to improve the team next summer he may want out. It's going to be interesting to see how this plays out.

He’s going to be a starter in this league before he turns 25-years-old. That timeline is super conservative.

Reality is, if we blossoms and becomes the real deal, things are going to be interesting in 2-3 years and we’ll have to make a serious, serious decision in regards to 34-year-old Price or 23-year-old Primeau. Maybe it’ll be another year (3-4 instead) but we’re going to face that situation much sooner than 2026 if his development stays on track, imo.

He'll be RFA for pretty much the whole Price contract so unless he becomes a Vezina calibregoalie by 2026, we probably can afford both. Thomas/Rask kind of duo.

Yeah but you don’t want to hinder his development by having him play behind Price who’d probably still be a top tier goalie at 34-35. Rask was 24 in Thomas’ final year in Boston and Thomas 36.

If Primeau is ready to grab the spot, his next step in development would be being a legit starter. The guy. Not the guy behind Price who’d still play 50+ games at that point. If his development stays on track the organization is going to have to make a tough decision before 2026.

The guy is arguably our best prospect and looks incredibly poised at 20-years-old. Everything staying on track, it won’t take him another 6-7 years to grab the role. He’ll either do it here or on another team.

While if the habs miss the playoffs again Price might force MBs hand, so someone may be in the net sooner rather than later.

30 mins against NJ's B-squad, he doesn't get the Vezna yet. But he is a top prospect and a steal fora 7th rounder. But it takes alot to be a starter in the NHL.

Most likely we'll end up trading him for a band-aid solution because Carey Price is literally Jesus, or something. And Price will play 60 games a year with a .915 sv% for $10M.

And I'm a huge Price fan but logic is logic. If Primeau is a league average goalie, you have to move Price. The cost/production ratio would be too far in favour of Primeau. $10M vs. league minimum?
