Continuing to double down on this core is insanity.

Doubling down on bad faux-core players like Brock Boeser is insanity. Sitting on bad mid-level contracts like Myers/Pearson rather than biting the bullet and paying to move them out is insanity.

Doubling down on All-Star level players in the middles of their careers is not insanity. Having a tantrum and trading your best players for crap is what is insanity.

Ugh we’re winning a pointless game gaining points that in the end are meaningless to us and only hurt us from getting a player at the draft that can help change the direction of this team. Middle of the pack Canucks for the next decade.

Honest question

Do you understand how completely nonexistent the canucks leverage would be in any trades to dump salary to fit players once they cap themselves out

And even if they theoretically are able to pay the prices, that they have zero assets to improve the team? Literally zero. None.

While having roughly 30 million of their cap to OEL, Boeser, Horvat, Miller. Three of those guys for long term deals into their late 30s.

I'd be trading Boeser.

Basically every team has multiple long-term deals for players into their 30s. We actually currently have one of the smallest 30+ commitments in the NHL for the 24-25 season right now.

Yup, it probably doesn't help our leverage. But again, if you're not signing players of Horvat/Kuzmenko's ability because you're worried about losing an extra draft pick, you aren't seeing the forest for the trees.

It would be awesome if we go on a winning streak against the gauntlet of teams in January, Demko comes back in Feb, and we make a run for 9th place while leaving Horvat Kuzmenko Schenn unsigned and untraded :)
It’s going to happen, book it

They asked his agent to facilitate a trade.

The media saying they want to dump salary.

They cannot create cap space unless they pay to dump it.

They ruined leverage that they had a year ago. The team is in a worse position.

It will take miracles to do the things you want to do.

What's the delia on Delia?! He's looking great tonight.

He should be the starter right now.

It's hilarious how teams/coaches get stuck on 'the established guy' rather than dressing the best roster.

Last year Martin was feeling it and playing terrific but he was just 'the AHL fill-in' so they kept playing the washed-up Halak.

Now Martin has totally lost it and has been a sieve for the past couple months but he was the anointed backup for this year so he's getting the majority of the starts despite Delia being on a heater and looking far better.

but the problem is we don’t have anything in the system coming up, we really can’t afford to be moving picks out to offload players. It’s not like we only need to move one guy out… we need to move multiple players out. Even if we did do that, the cap space goes to re-signing players and a lot of our big issues will still be present with fewer picks to help out the farm for the future. This team is absolutely f***ed and completely boxed in. Trading away picks to offload players when the team has so many holes and issues and nothing in the system is crazy, imo.
