Love this signing, doubt he comes to NA without a strong belief that he will make the B's. He has size, speed & physicality, exactly what this team needs going forward under the Sweeney regime. This makes guys like Kelly and Talbot expendable, slow and old out, younger, bigger, faster, more talented in, I love it.

Chris can play wing, too.

Skating on the wing and actually "playing" the wing efficiently are two very different things.

Kelly can do one of those, but certainly not both.

Will Sweeney bite billet and buy him out for $2 mil extra cap room this season, while taking $1M dead money charge this year and next?

I think so. One way to slice off dollars quick.

And no, I do not think any team wants him at $3M nor will Bruins "pay" some lone to take them by adding a pick as sweetener. Buyout or bust.

Love the Finn signing. Getting guys fighting every inch for jobs in NHL is always a good thing.

I like this signing this could be a good 4th line player that we need. Other players that played in the WHC I would consider are: Dominique Heinrich from Austria he is smaller dman, but he can really skate probably faster version of Krug. Michael Wolf from Germany has an incredible shot he reminds me of Michael Ryder or Mark Stone.

As for Chris Kelly no need to buy him out, with only 1 year left on his deal there are a few teams that may want him for a year to be a good face off and PK guy, we could get a mid round pick for him and lose all the contract at the same time.

Dunno bout that, only player Id out at 0% right now is bergeron, everyone else is at least .1%

Talbot i wouldn't put that high on the safe list

why not? weather its 4th line, 13th or 14th forward at 875k? hes a savvy vet who can play defense at virtually no cost. would be dumb to get rid of him. 1 more year here.. he can mentor the rookies we are most likely gonna be playing on the 4th

Depends on what you want in a 4th line center. ...I'm still a bit lost on how a guy who was a fan favourite for a long time (still is to me), lost pretty much all fan support from what Ive read here this year.

...not a Campbell thread I suppose, so I'll stop there. :)

He does look pretty promising in the clips though.

Campbell was abysmal last season and not very good the year before. I appreciate everything he has done for the B's, but there are much better options available. Fan support has a tendency to waiver when you play like crap and it becomes apparent that it's not going to get better.

Kimi did play hockey but he didn't want to wake up early for morning practice so he decided to focus on motor sports.

YLE (Finnish national broadcasting company) interviewed Kemppainen. He said that:
- he's going to stay in NA the whole season, reckons that he may play some games in the AHL
- the Bruins are going to give him a chance to show what he's got and everything after that depends on how he does
Joonas+Kemppainen

He did a promo thing back in 2002 with some Finnish hockey team, I remember watching that ;) I was only 12 though haha

I agree, his last good year was 2012-2013

There was couple of interviews with him in Finnish media today.

Quick summary:

- Said that there was a couple of different teams interested but he felt like Boston really wanted him there, more than other teams.

- Spoke really highly of the Bruins organization and was really honored to sign with them.

- One of the big reasons he chose Bruins because they have been successful before and Kemppainen feels like they can be Stanley Cup contenders next year too.

- This was the first year when he has gotten NHL offers and first time he actually he realized he could play in NHL one day, instead just dreaming of it.

- He feels ready to play in NHL and will give his all to make that happen. Goes into North America with "mindset" of playing in the NHL next year.

- He knows there will be a lot of completion from the center spots and doesn't mind playing in the AHL at first if he won't make the team.

- Feels like he has gotten more mature in the past two seasons and playing big minutes every night helped him a lot.

- He is exited to follow how Bergeron/Kreijci play and learn something from them as he plays a similar type of game.

- He felt that he played well in the World Championships and saw that he can play vs NHL players.

- He will work on his skating/acceleration during the summer.

- Tries to be more gritty/aggressive than before.

- Feels like he can still develop into a better player.

- Played with Rask before with the Finnish U18/U20 teams but doesn't really know him.

- Doesn't speak English very well but hopes to get better at it when coming to North America.

But from everything I've read he's ready to make the jump to the 4th line.

IMO, we have a lot of forward depth right now.

I don't think having Koko on the 4th line would help his game a whole lot. I'd rather see him play in the AHL again if he's not at least the third line LW/C. I think Spooner has earned a shot at third line C duties next year.

Reading his interviews it seems like he really wants to play for Boston and in the NHL and that Boston really wanted him.

Said that it was pretty easy decision.

I want guys like that on our team.

Well then who is going to score points? Nobody on this team can even get 60 points. Yeah, who needs points right?

A big dream we've had this whole year has been getting a new stronger/younger 4th line for next year, and now we are getting that.

We have lots of issues with our roster and this helps in one of those.

I'm not expecting to see any bigger trades now for top scorers/top D players, for those we have to wait awhile.
