Do you believe what you write?
Barries is a system player. Taken out of the Avs offensive system and he got exposed as a bottom pairing PP specialist.
If anyone gives him a long term deal after this year they will regret it badly
Brodie offers so much more to a team. Excellent puck moving, good PK and the ability to handle a forecheck vs Barrie who gets hemmed in when he has players going in after him.
Brodie is a great #3D while Barrie is #5D solely due to his offense
Head to head match up tomorrow, should be interesting.
That’s a disgusting thing that to hope for.Hopefully the Matthews line gets hard matched w him.

I think you missed the joke.Hes apparently being deployed in a semi defensive manner, so as silly as it might sound it's possible it happens.

No that’s not it.That Barrie is terrible defensively? No, im well aware ^

Easy there guy. Nothing phobic about it. Don’t make more out of it than need be. Sometimes people can have fun on this site. Not everything needs to be a pissing contest.Low hanging fruit I guess; Maybe you're unclear what hard matching is, beyond the vague homophobic intimation?
I don’t think Brodie is a #3 anymore...I think he’s a fringe #4 but ideally a good bottom pairing guy. He’s not known for his defensive game and doesn’t even put up 20 points anymore.
The more I watch them, they are both terrible. Brodie is way overrated.
Barrie is a great player. He was absurdly scapegoated in Toronto and to an extent in Colorado because of the shiny new things in Makar and Girard. With that being said, he ranges from barely above average defensively to bad. But his offensive game, especially transition D is top notch.Have you been watching Oilers games this year? Barrie's been one of our best defensemen, and he's improving with every game. He was rock-solid defensively against the Leafs.
Using ToI to say which pairing a player is, would blow up in Toronto fan's faces when they realized how much Barrie actually played last year after keefe was brought on, and had a positive goal differential at 5on5.Here's his average ice time this season (so far) and the previous 3 seasons:
20-21 22:19
19-20 20:27
18-19 21:28
17-18 23:41
A guy getting 20-23 minutes TOI is "ideally" a bottom pairing guy?
By the way, he has never failed to get get 20 points in a full NHL season. He missed that mark pre-2013 when he was still spending time in the AHL, and again last season when the season was cut short (still got 19).
Your first claim is garbage, and your second is a straight up lie.
The only Defenseman last season for Toronto who was worse than Barrie was Cody Ceci, which isn't saying a lot.Using ToI to say which pairing a player is, would blow up in Toronto fan's faces when they realized how much Barrie actually played last year after keefe was brought on, and had a positive goal differential at 5on5.
He definitely wasn't the worst D they've ever seen, even though they like to parade that around.
Yet somehow he was a +10 at 5on5 after Babcock got fired? The only Defenseman last season for Toronto who was worse than Barrie was Cody Ceci, which isn't saying a lot.
