Wasn’t that during the time when the leafs organization thought Marner was a 4th liner too? Bringing up old nonsense after things change drastically is ridiculous
The Toronto organization never had Marner as a 4th liner. That is nonsense and ridiculous. You are talking about the 4th overall close to 100 point guy.

Ha ha

Ha ha if I remember correctly, he played a few games there as a wake up call. Never did the organization have him there permanently.
Of course he’s not there permanently, did I say he was currently on the 4th line? No, did you say that he was never on the 4th line? Yes. But carry on moving goal posts from what I said.

Defence: Brodie
Offence: Barrie++
Transition: Brodie
Skating: Brodie
Knack for horrible IQ plays: Both

Slight edge Brodie for me, but it depends on needs. Neither guy is someone I’d love on my team for 4.5-6 million a year. Brodie’s defence is underrated because he makes terrible plays in his own end more often than you want, and it leaves that bitter taste.

Add:

PK: Brodie
PP: Barrie++

I was pretty excited to see Barrie QB a PP that featured Matthews,Nylander,Tavares and Marner
not only was he not great there, he was brutal 5 on 5 to the point he was playing 3rd pair mins against the 3rd/4th lines of other teams.

Brodie was a force against Ottawa in the 3-2 win...I cant recall Barrie making an impact like that all year
Brodie was Dubas first choice....Naz didnt wanna go to Calgary so he settled for Barrie
glad everything worked out in the end.

so it works out to

ES: Brodie+++
PK: Brodie
PP: Barrie ++

thats fair. Barrie and Turris were expected to turn thins around in oilerland but both have been pretty brutal so far. How does a guy have a 28% USAT? lol

Brodie is more solid and more talented overall, IMO, but Barrie is an excellent fit for the Oilers (on paper, at least) because of his offensive abilities

Brodie, not close. One of the most underrated dmen in the league. I think Dubas is arguably the worst manager in the league but that was a good acquisition.

So your rationale is that when teams ease players in and use them on different lines, that's their trajectory? Boy there's a lot of players from other teams that HF Boards must have been way off on? At the end of the day, all you are doing is illustrating exactly what I said "this is where intelligence goes to die".
Eased him into what? He was playing on a higher line before that. I get that you’re upset because your “people calling Marner a 4th liner” was silly, but that doesn’t change the fact that at that time Marner wasn’t playing the greatest and was moved down. Since then he’s been fantastic, but that doesn’t change the past. Do you always start insulting people when you’re wrong?

I never understood people liking Barrie. He is just hollow points. Brodie is a legit big minute d-man who can play hockey.

Barries is a system player. Taken out of the Avs offensive system and he got exposed as a bottom pairing PP specialist.

If anyone gives him a long term deal after this year they will regret it badly

Brodie offers so much more to a team. Excellent puck moving, good PK and the ability to handle a forecheck vs Barrie who gets hemmed in when he has players going in after him.

Brodie is a great #3D while Barrie is #5D solely due to his offense

I don’t think Brodie is a #3 anymore...I think he’s a fringe #4 but ideally a good bottom pairing guy. He’s not known for his defensive game and doesn’t even put up 20 points anymore.

Your a sens fan probably havent seen a good defender in a while. Hopefully Sanderson doesnt bust like brannstrom otherwise another 10 years in the gutters for the sens

Yeah Brodie easily lol. Barrie is a complete tirefire in his own zone and is overrated on offense too. Brodie had one bad game and has been solid otherwise.

There is a good percentage of Flames fans who said he outperformed Giordano this past season. He's a top 4 guy .

Well, the Sens have drafted and developed a better defenseman in the last 5 years than the Leafs have since...Kaberle in 1996?

Plus, if you’re calling Brannstrom a bust, you must be admitting Liljegren is a bust and Sandin is on the verge of busting? Yikes..
