So Vancouver tosses in additional 2nd and 7th round picks so that Arizona eats 1M of OEL's cap hit each year. Canucks are gambling heavily that OEL can bounce back for the next couple of seasons. After that, or if he doesn't, this trade is just awful.

Some may say Vancouver got better with the trade, which is clearly true given that they gave up nothing of value other than the draft picks. However the Canucks in 2 years will be a worse team because of this trade without those picks, having been saddled with big contracts for their RFAs and of course the 7.25 million cap anchor that is OEL.

If Detroit lands wright or bedard they’re going to win 3-5 cups with yzerman as Gm. Love what he’s doing there. If they can add a top line center to push Larkin down they are going to be a true cup contender for years after a little development

So you think Detroit is going to be the first legitimate dynasty since the Oilers of over 30 years ago? If getting Wright or Bedard can do that, Oilers with McDrai should have won 3 cups by now.

Obviously exaggerating a bit but a core of
Wright-Raymond
Larkin-vrana

sieder- Edvinsson

cossa

starts to look a lot like Tampa.
Getting the defence and goalie early in the rebuild is always preferred, where as if we took a goalie now your looking at mcdrai being 30 just as the goalie becomes a starter

Detroit being a future dynasty and all is fun but what's even more fun is the Habs are going to be cancelled hardcore for that Mailloux pick :dunce:

I'm hoping Minnesota, Detroit or Columbus get Wright, Savoie, Bedard and/or Michkov. All the 3 teams just had fantastic drafts and even with brutal situations theyre really looking good.

Bergevin is so confusing. That wasn't even an opportunistic pick. Guy wasn't rated that high. I feel almost like it's an overcompensation thing. He's trying to frame it like he is embracing a guy that made a mistake and will help in through it. Overcompensation due to guilt of what happened on his watch in Chicago perhaps, but he couldn't ever admit he did wrong in Chicago because it would be too damaging to his career.

Don't forget the habs went from being interested in Voynov, wanting DeAngelo, and now this. If anything, Bergevin's a f***ing piece of shit

It's quite mind-boggling, especially in the context of what happened last year with the Coyotes. I wonder if they'll end up being forced to renounce the rights to him. Bergevin literally pissed away all of the good will he earned back from that Cinderella run.

Good point. Maybe Bergevin just wants attention and is straight up shameless. So weird how he goes out of his way to do this crap.

Other than Larkin, what have any of those guys done at the NHL level? Maybe throttle back the enthusiasm just a wee bit there, fella.:D
