Those Carolina fans on their board are rabid. When the board was reformatted last year they used the like button to write a message for Bruin fans

I just looked at their poll. I think people are voting for regular season finish rather than stanley cup chances. Teams like Chicago, NYR, and Montreal should be picked ahead of them just because they can have a miracle and get carried by a hot goaltender through a few rounds.

Mrazek and Darling will never be able to steal a playoff series. Same can be said about Elliott but Philly still is in 12th place.

Everyone automatically assumes that every off-season acquisition will make the team better. We didn't do anything, so in everyones eyes that makes us somehow worse. Just the way it is.

Last season we were an injury or two away from being too thin and coming into this season the same circumstance exists, that of being lean on depth. What we have present is pretty strong on paper, but a lot has to work and the younger players have to progress positively.

Can Butcher, Nico, Bratt, Wood, Coleman, Noesen, Zacha build on the potential they showed and the experience gained or was it flukey seasons for some? Can Hall come close to replicating what was a career season? What will pan out of the goalie situation?

There are certainly some fair questions in place, however at the same time there is also potential for a lot to work in our favor so there really isn't much that can be said for expectations. Hoping to build off of last year, but there are enough questions in place that we are going in more open minded as to what could happen.

Sorry Devils fans! This Panthers team is just too good to ignore! Very good up and coming team, they've got stars, one of the best goalies of this generation, they're really tough and they had an amazing February-April last year! I think they're gonna do things this year! You all need to stop ignoring them and I think they're gonna gain some respect this year! Dale Tallon is one of the best in the business! I know it's been a decade, but he built a cup winner in Chicago! He's gonna build a cup winner down in Sunrise next!

So, I'm saying New Jersey OUT, Florida IN!

Florida, just like Buffalo, just like Carolina, is another team that I’ve been told is on the “up and up” for the better part of a decade now.

They’re dog **** until proven otherwise, sorry. You’d think these analysts would learn after parroting this same nonsense about these same teams, year after year.

How about Edmonton? They've been on the "up and up" for a long time, too. :sarcasm:

At least they've made the playoffs in recent memory. It is a shame though that McDavid will likely be wasted by that franchise.

Hall is counting his blessings as we speak.

While he was "shocked"(yeah right) at the trade, I'm sure he was grateful to get out of that siberian hell-hole of suck.

He's probably thinking "Better you than me, Connor".

by all accounts, the trade hit him like an errant magic 8 ball to the nuts. he wanted to be there for the long haul

It's a reference to how Hurricane fans used the new like system to send a message to Boston fans. Each user had an avatar with a letter on it. They posted a bunch of messages and liked them in a way so that when you clicked on the link, the message right down the side was "Boston sucks" or something like that

really? sounds like a bunch of f***ing virgins to think of something like that

This happens every summer. People gush over every free agent signing and how much better they will make every team who got one, and then in 6-8 months 3/4 of those signings look bad and everyone talks about how terrible free agent day is, until it happens again...

It's going to be fun when the much anticipated 2019 free agent class ends up being teams jockeying to sign mid-tier free agents for too much money/term.

I thought depth was a strength last year. Yes there was a big gap between Hall and the rest of the club, but we got solid contributions from bottom 6 guys all year, from Gibbons and Boyle early, to Coleman and Noesen late.

I guess those contributions were from guys we did not expect, throw Bratt in there too, so maybe we looked thin entering the season, but we proved to be pretty deep.

And we did survive a fair amount of injuries. Mojo, Palms, Zajac, Boyle.

Going into this season we do expect more from the likes of Noesen and Coleman then we did going into last season, so that will be interesting to see how that plays out, but I think on paper we do look like we have more depth entering this year then we thought we did entering last year. And we have young guys waiting in the wings to provide extended depth.

These 7 are locks to get in:

Wash
Pitts
TB
TML
Philly
FLA
Boston

We battle Cbj, Rawly and the Rags for that final spot.
Philadelphia and Florida locks for the playoffs?

The rest seem like pretty safe bets for a spot, but there are still no guarantees. I don't see Carolina or the Rangers even competing for one.
