RW--Tim Kerr

For my money, the best net front presence I have ever seen. The man was a horse, and was basically unmovable. And this was an era in which using your stick as a weapon, when trying to protect your net, was basically the wild, wild west. Anything went. Which unfortunately, took it's toll on Kerr, as he suffered through 5 shoulder surgeries, which led to his retirement. But the time he did play, 655 career games, he was the premier net front presence player of his era.

With the rules called MUCH differently now, and using your stick as weapon is no longer allowed, good luck stopping the big man. Will be used on the 4th line, as his primary utility will be the 1st unit power play.

Kerr was 6-3, 230 pounds of solid oak, and was dubbed, "The Sultan of Slot.

Kerr still holds the NHL record for most PP goals in a season with 34.

370 goals, 149 of which were on the Power play. 304 assists. Total of 655 games.

3 all star games.

THE SKATING JABRONIS complete its starting defense of Lidstrom-Fetisov, Keith-Ozolinsh, and Reinhart-xxx with a selection of . . .

Dan Boyle - D

I believe that @sarge88 or the designated picker is on the clock.

To anchor the third pairing, Squaw Valley selects:

RD James Patrick

Patrick was a very under rated defenseman who played from 1983 until 2004.

While not flashy offensively, he had 5 Seasons of 50 or more points, including 71 in 1992.

Finished his career with 639 Points and was on the 1984 Canadian Olympic team and the 87 Canada Cup team.

Patrick is a solid well rounded defenseman who played in alll situations and the majority of his NHL career as a 3/4, but will anchor the 3rd. pairing for the Precursor.

Might as well pair these two together again, next up, Todd Bertuzzi. Ugly incident with Steve Moore aside, Bertuzzi was one of the best power forwards in the league in the early 2000s, pairing up with Markus Naslund, as I mentioned before.

The Gentlemen Bastards select:

D--Roman Hamrlik

Roman Hamrlik- D

Saddled with being the first pick ever for the Lightning and the first overall pick of a very weak draft class, Roman always had lofty goals set for him that he was never able to reach. Unfortunately, the label of "bust" carried around with him because of this. This, however, wasn't the case. Sure, as a first overall pick he left something to be desired, but he still carved out a 20 year career that was impressive that includes 3 All-Star games and a gold medal.

Roman Hamrlik was a very steady, reliable defenseman who could fill in in any situation. Though he never emerged as a superstar that everyone hopes for out of a first overall draft pick, he was a very desirable player, a hard hitter with a quiet snarl to his game. He was better defensively than some people gave him credit for, yet he was not as good offensively as some believed. He had a good shot and made smart first pass, but was never an overly creative offensive player. He became an in-demand player as a veteran because of his savvy and calm play. He would often be brought into a new team to play a leader's role and help young prospects like he once was.

He was also able to rack up 114.9 point shares, which place him 18th among eligible defenders, above drafted defensmen like Shea Weber, Duncan Keith, Drew Doughty, and Erik Karlsson.

Petteri+Nokelainen+Roman+Hamrlik+Montreal+B5D_BUPhMhal.jpg

RW-- Ray Whitney

Ray Whitney- LW

A rare playmaking winger, Whitney had excellent vision and passing ability. Excelled on the powerplay and in offensive situations. Smallish, he was not overly effective in physical battles, but had great elusiveness. “Ray Whitney was the easiest guy in the world to coach because all you had to do is tell him he couldn’t do something, and he would,” former Sharks assistant coach and analyst Drew Remenda said in 2010. “That was his motivating factor. His whole life he was told he was too short, too small, too light, too slow.”

Whitney ranks just below wingers Gary Roberts and Michel Goulet in point shares to take the 15th spot for eligible left wingers.

After being thoroughly underused and miscast in San Jose during their expansion days, Whitney excelled at pretty much every stop of his career compiling 1064 points.

Carolina- 372 Games / 334 Points
Florida- 273 Games / 227 Points
Columbus- 151 Games / 140 Points
Phoenix- 157 Games / 134 Points

Up next, Milan Hejduk! 805 points in his career, a great scorer in the early 2000s, for those great Avalanche teams.

KINKY KIRKS are proud to select one of the last true power forwards of the modern era, Shane Doan.

The swift skating Doan played a heavy game and wasn’t shy about throwing his fists when needed. His gritty game was complimented by a set of talented mitts that helped him score 20+ goals in 11 out of 12 seasons from 2000-2012.

A true leader both on and off the ice, Doan is an ideal addition to the KIRKs.

With pick #188 in round 16, Squaw Valley is pleased to select:

RW - Scott Mellanby

Mellanby literally grinded his way through over 1,400 NHL games with 364 Goals, 840 points and over 2,400 PIM.

Few players in NHL history have made more of their skill set than Mellanby.

A true team player and leader, Mellanby will man the right side on the fourth line.

Round 17.... 202nd selection. When you get an entire town named after you, you know you are good... very good sharpshooter and always a threat from the PK units, scores on the rush, or from a set position and is adaptable to a variety of centerman styles.... From the town of Pominville… RW-Jason Pominville… Population of the Puck Time Pilots just went up by one!

Team Doblett of Fire figured they'd finally take their goalies. They are proud to select Capitals starter, 2016 Vezina winner, 2017 Jennings winner, and 2018 Cup winner Braden Holtby

braden-holtby.jpg

Team Doblett of Fire is also proud to select their other goaltender Jean-Sebastian Giguere. One of only 5 players all time to win a Conn Smythe when his team lost in the Cup finals. He's the perfect 1B goaltender on my team and has shown he can dominate when it matters.
