The Fremen, with their 11th round pick, 129th overall, we pleased to welcome , C- Rod Brind'Amour

Rod.jpg

With Rod the Bod, the Fremen have a tremendous defensive player that also can put the puck in the net.

2 time Selke winner.

400+ goals on his career.

Captain of the '05-'06 Stanley Cup champion Carolina Hurricanes.

Career playoffs stats, 57 games, 51 points.

Like Toews on our 3rd line, Brind'Amour, centering our 4th line, can play a shutdown role, and also has the offensive ability to also contribute offensively.

1184 career points.

12th round, 135th pick... The Puck Time Pilots realize, there IS a need for security on the ice....and while the Time Pilots aren't exactly soft, they nonetheless will all sleep better, knowing The Mad Man himself, D-Marty McSorley is patrolling their blue line. Rats beware...Maniac on duty!

THE SKATING JABRONIS are thrilled to select . . .

PAUL REINHART - D

Who, some of you may ask?

#4 ALL TIME among Gretzky Draft eligible defensemen in points per game with .863.
#3 ALL TIME among Gretzky Draft eligible defensemen in playoff points per game with .928.

Playing in an era with greats like Ray Bourque, Paul Coffey, Scott Stevens, teammate Al MacInnis, and Phil Housley, Reinhart's coach, the late great future Penguins coach Bob Johnson, said, Reinhart was the type of player that could be the 'cornerstone' for a franchise . . .

"In terms of all around talent, I don't believe there are many defensemen better than Reinhart . . . He's a capable defender in his own zone, first of all. Moreover, he's got the mobility and the offensive skills to make an important contribution to our attack. He's the big reason we've got one of the strongest power plays in the NHL."

Known for his offensive talents and high hockey IQ, Reinhardt in his prime played up to 30 minutes a night, as the Flames would play him not just for his regular defensive shifts but also in spot duty at center.

Unfortunately, Reinhart's career was cut short due to back injuries. After making the Atlanta Flames 1979-1980 squad as a 19 year old rookie and enjoying immediate success, Reinhart suffered a back injury during the 1983-1984 season in a game against the Jets, his skate caught a rut and he twisted his back as he fell. Almost retiring at 24, Reinhart finally returned to play several more years, eventually retiring due to chronic back pain at 29 after the 1989-1990 season.

@sarge88, you are up . . . :D

Our special guest, Mr T, has a prediction for the KIRKS next selection:

my-prediction-pain.jpg

The KINKY KIRKS are stoked to select one of the most feared players in NHL history, Darius Kasparitisomething.

Randy wood once said about Kaspar:

“Before every game, every team I ever played for against the Islanders said we have to watch out for this guy,” says Wood. “No defenseman in the league makes you keep your head up more than this guy.”

Simply put, Kaspar was so feared, that Gary Roberts still has nightmares about him.

Master of the low hip check, Kaspar was as likely to blow a knee out as he was to put a guy in a coma. He was absolutely fearless on the ice and he treated every opponent like his own personal punching bag, including Lemieux and Jagr.

By the end of the ‘93 Isles-Pens series, Kaspar had Lemieux so frustrated that eight years later he jokingly told Penguins beat writer Dave Molinari that “I still want to kill him"

Now he’s back to torment all your players into the fetal position.

Quarantine Zone 5
The Gentlemen Bastards select, C Guy Carbonneau

images+%281%29.jpg

Carbonneau had the instinct and ability to be a better scorer in the National Hockey League. His hockey sense, soft hands and good wheels should have seen him score more than he did. But Guy was so team oriented that he sacrificed his own point totals for the good of the team. Instead of becoming the next Guy Lafleur, he became the next Bob Gainey.

Guy Carbonneau became the standard of defensive excellence in the post Bob Gainey/Doug Jarvis era. The premier defensive shadow in the age of high scoring stars such as Gretzky, Yzerman and Lemieux, Carbonneau was a masterful face-off specialist and a superb shot blocker. And he excelled while his team was shorthanded. An incredible penalty killer, Carbonneau was always out against the other team's power plays, especially in the dreaded 5-on-3 penalty kills.

While he was not in the same class as the superstars of his era, Guy Carbonneau will always be mentioned in the same sentence as the Gretzkys, Lemieuxs, Yzermans and Hulls - as the man who shut them down.

Oh, and his trophy collection touts 3 Selkes and a host of Top 5 Selke finishes. Take a look:

The Gentlemen Bastards are pleased to steal 6 time Cup winner and 1000+ point scorer, RW Glenn Anderson

one_anderson01.jpg

Anderson was noted for his aggressive "to the net" playing style, typifying the NHL power forward in the early 1980s. He credits coach Clare Drake's drills during his time with the Olympic team for his love of driving the net. He also liked to stay behind the net and pass to his teammates in front of the goal for scoring chances. Noted as a "money" player, Anderson was able to elevate his game in high pressure situations. He scored five playoff overtime goals and 17 playoff game-winning goals, good for third and fifth all-time in NHL history. During the playoffs, Anderson accumulated 93 goals, 121 assists, and 214 points, the fourth, ninth, and fourth most in NHL history. In addition, his 72 regular season game-winning goals with the Oilers put him first all time in franchise history.

The KINKY KIRKS are pleased to select big money goalie Tom Barrasso.

One of only three players to win both the Calder and Vezina trophies in the same season, Barrasso then went on to a stellar career with the Penguins where he won back to back Stanley cups in ‘91 and 92 and became the first American goalie to win 300 games.

Barrasso is the only goalie in NHL history to win 14 straight playoff games, one of the most phenomenal records the league will ever see.

He is also one of, if not the best, stickhandling goalies of all time, using this talent to become the all time leader in points by a goalie (48).

Barrasso‘s ability to breakout the puck and play any style of game required, either winning in firewagon style or a 1-0 shutout, makes him the ideal goalie for the KIRKS.

With over 430+ wins in the NHL and 3 Stanley cups on his resume, he's the man that people liked to crap on when he was a Penguin and then suddenly gave him respect when he joined a band of misfits, always the prankster and never not smiling...

Biggies select Marc-Andre Fleury.

@Dr Pepper you're up!
