The Hab Haters are very proud to select LW P.J. Axelsson (the man in my avatar)

Anders Per Johan Axelsson was drafted 177th in the 1995 NHL draft by the Boston Bruins. He joined the team in 1997 and played for them until 2009. Noted for his smart, relentless defensive play he would pot the occasional goal (he had 17 in 2003). My all time favorite Bruin.

Team Doblett of Fire is proud to select C/LW Patrick Marleau. Marleau has scored 548 career goals and 1158 career points and is still kicking it with Toronto at age 39. Versatile forward can play in all situations and multiple positions.

After almost falling into a coma waiting for @Honour Over Glory to make his pick :)razz:), THE SKATING JABRONIS select one of the premier offensive defensemen of the early to mid 90's (until he adapted his game to help the Anaheim Ducks during their improbable run to the 2003 Stanley Cup Finals), 7 time All Star . . .

Sandis Ozolinsh - D

@sarge88, I believe you are on the clock . . .

The Gentlemen Bastards select the physical anchor for our 3rd paring, D Niklas Kronwall

hqdefault.jpg

Has great timing in lining opponents up for huge hits; he is not big, but is tough and can intimidate in open ice. Skates well and is usually in sound defensive position. Has offensive ability, as well. A good puckhandler and passer, he is an asset on the power play. Kronwall has developed a reputation for his signature back-pedaling hits. Fans refer to the frequently devastating, often open-ice, hits as being "Kronwalled."

Skaters better keep their heads up around the blueline exiting and entering the zones.

The Gentlemen Bastards will further strengthen our backline by selecting, D Andrei Markov

andrei-markov-p-k-subban.jpg

Here's a quick excerpt from an article entitled, "Appreciating Andrei Markov", written towards the end of his NHL career-

Andrei Markov was a sixth round pick back in 1998 but he doesn’t play like one. His vision has allowed him to become an excellent power play quarterback and while his shot isn’t as powerful as teammate PK Subban’s, Markov has the ability to get shots through and score goals in addition to his already good playmaking skills. His career high in points came during the 2008-09 season where he put up 64 points in 78 games that includes a whopping 52 assists. One of Markov’s biggest strengths is making the players around him better. Is it just coincidence that <likely player that wont get drafted, but just in case> NHL career went downhill after leaving the Habs (and Markov) to sign as a free agent in Toronto? Or that <paring partner that may get drafted towards the end> had 35+ points in his last three seasons in Montreal? Markov continues to be a minute muncher on the blueline for Montreal for good reason. He still possesses the ability to control the game, even if his body says otherwise on some nights.

Going back to Point Shares, Markov ranks 29th (104.0) in point shares among eligible defenders. Three spots below Duncan Keith (105.6) and two spots above Brent Burns (102.9).

Next up, is Marc Savard! An underrated player, imo he was quite the gifted passer throughout the years. Piling up 499 assists, 737 points in only 807 games. Shame though his career was cut short by injuries, namely concussions. I believe one of them was caused by Matt Cooke?? Anywho, welcome to the team!

Squaw Valley is pleased to add a man with:

9 25+ Goal Seasons
Nearly 800 Points
A Stanley Cup Championship
109 Pts. In 156 Playoff Games

LW Geoff Courtnall

Courtnall will likely be placed on line 2, as his speed and shooting ability will be better suited to playing with Modano.

Biggies select Eric Lindros' favorite wall to run into, the man that sounds like a disease and my fav #11 to ever wear the Pens uniform - Darius Kasparaitis. Is what I would have said the lame asses Kinky Kirk's didn't jack my boy.

So I'll have to unfortunately take Russ Courtnall.

@Dr Pepper you're up.
