US has tested 1.5 million people. That’s great, but that number should be at least double that and ideally much more. I really hope they come out with and send out home kits. I’ll happily pay for my family having them, but they should be free to those that can’t afford it.
So the US has 300,000 positive cases from 1.5 million people tested? So a 20% positive rate?

As a comparison, Canada has only done:

295,065 tests
12,794 positive
280,855 negative
So a 4.33 positive % rate

So Canada has way more hypochondriacs? ;)

Only problem is there is some question how accurate many of those tests actually are?
As we ramp up testing, it's important that we "test the test" and eliminate those with high false positives/false negatives.

I don't get news from TV.
I read the NYT, WSJ, The Economist and the New Yorker (great cartoons and investigative reporting).
I also read a lot of academic journal articles.
I rarely read editorials, why let other people tell you what to think? An exception if the writer has real expertise.

Fox is horrible, absolutely unwatchable except for Chris Wallace. They're not just stupid, they're smarmy.
MSNBC (my wife is an addict) is just as biased, but a lot smarter, there is some real news among all the pontificating. Though Maddow's condescending attitude grates like nails on blackboards. The best commentators are former Republicans, the worst is the "Rev."
CNN I can't comment b/c I rarely watch it.
I miss MacNeil/Lehrer on PBS.

if you are not getting your news from multiple sources you are not in the know. and even then....

Add Al Jazeera, bbc, the atlantic

I really miss Al Jazeera America

It varies wildly depending on the situation.

Source: My fiancee and I have been caught in immigration hell for going on 3 years. No criminal record for her and I got a speeding ticket when I was 19. We've been through all American and Canadian options with highly-qualified Immigration Attorneys.
Dude you're the computer wiz. Find out who approves the applications hack their phone for any racy pictures you can find and tell them you're going to replace one person with Uga and release them publicly. Boom application approved:thumbu:

I would never trust anything out of Al Jazeera, they're controlled by Qatar.

If you move to Canada, I'm fairly certain my future in laws would be interested in your house. Or I would, if you're interested in renting long term.

Disagree on Al Jazeera. My dad went off the deep end to the left and I have a friend who is currently off the deep end to the right. I have researched several news sources and I recommend you check out mediabiasfactcheck.com to give you a break down on news source slants and the veracity of their content. They have rated over 3000+ news sites.

I have watched both AJA and OAN and they both are flawed but as far as Al Jazeera goes there's a subtle anti american vibe to it. They spend too much time highlighting flaws with the US and rarely if ever give it credit for anything positive it does. The 'Faultlines' series really showed it's true colors. I'm totally fine with and gladly accept criticism where it is due but don't misrepresent the facts when doing it. I personally feel that the BBC is the only TV News Station worth watching.

Are they setting limits on how many can be in a store in PA?
My bank just announced reduced hours for the drive up starting Wednesday.
9-3 M-F
9-12 Saturday

i have seen a good amount of places doing that..both limiting the number of people and reducing the business hours..my store is not one of them

While I agree we acted late political discussions that devolve into name calling and vitriol does nobody any good and only drives people further into their 'Tribes' and ends any chance at a constructive dialogue.
sure is funny right now to see one side of the coin now loudly calling for socialistic programs to save their butts. It's all fun and games about dismantling safety nets for the less fortunate until it's your neck in the noose...

Doesn't change anything, just let the next 2 months play out.

I was saying it in jest based on every other time Trump has had some overly positive outlook on some timeline that didn’t come to fruition.

Seasons over.

I predict that regardless of when the NHL is cleared to resume, they still finish the current season. Maybe not all of the remaining regular season games, but they'll have a Playoff and award the Cup.

Then they'll take a few months off and start a shortened 2021 season.

How else will they determine draft order? How do they rectify the assets spent by teams for trade deadline rentals? How do they recoup profit lost from the playoffs, both in tickets and tv?

No finish to this season is far worse and more complicated than shortening next season.

didn't an announcer report the NHL was most likely going directly to playoffs if resumed?

Oh, well in that case, I can't argue that. Fans at games and empty arenas are two different things though.

The owners who are less-rich than the billionaires are going to be desperate for whatever revenue they can get their hands on, because they might be out of they can't get playoff revenue. Gary's always stood with those guys. That's why the NHL will wait as long as they can before deciding anything.

You’re using the logic of integrity. Meanwhile, we have the Deputy Commissioner outright declaring there will be no shortened season. Because they’re using the logic of revenue, and they want that full 82 game slate. Doomed.

I've been on both sides as a small business owner and also somebody who needed medicaid to pay for a major surgery that put me out for over a year. I think people on both sides need to try to understand where the other is coming from rather than label them the "enemy"(not saying you did that).
