That hasn't really addressed or answered the question I curious about.

There are interesting examples of Soviet troops being pushed through uncleared minefields unnecessarily or forcing troops to cross rivers knowing those troops couldn't swim because their officers were afraid to not follow orders from their superiors as directly as possible.

Or Japanese soldiers being order to force captured troops on the Bataan death march not questioning those orders.

The waterboarding on Guantanamo Bay?

I agree that in times of war there are situations that you have to follow orders even in the case of high casualties. But this is not a time of war and beyond that how effective would a carrier riff with disease even be. But again my question stands how far do you want the officers and personal of your countries military to extrapolate the concept of "you just follow orders" and "follow the chain of command".
Your looking for answers on a subject that the public will likely never know the full details. We don't know and likely never will if he subverted the chain of command initially. If I had to guess he probably didn't like the answers he was getting and thus risked his career to for the sake of his men.

My example states pretty clearly how following orders, even at your own peril, can be to the benefit of the military/country as a whole. There's many cases in American history where officers were demoted or reassigned because of events out of their control.

As far as saying it's not a time of war, what's to say China doesn't use this opportunity, while the rest of the world's attention is focused elsewhere, to seize some disputed islands or even Taiwan? It would be a shitty thing to do but China is kinda good at crap like that.

I predict that regardless of when the NHL is cleared to resume, they still finish the current season. Maybe not all of the remaining regular season games, but they'll have a Playoff and award the Cup.

Then they'll take a few months off and start a shortened 2021 season.

How else will they determine draft order? How do they rectify the assets spent by teams for trade deadline rentals? How do they recoup profit lost from the playoffs, both in tickets and tv?

No finish to this season is far worse and more complicated than shortening next season.
An issue here is that contracts are calendar based, so there will technically be several free agents at the end of June. If the season is delayed, the NHLPA would have to agree to extending contracts. May seem trivial, but it is actually likely to be a big sticking point.

Make them play one more year at the same salary.

Damn wait that means we're stuck with Thompson, Braun and Hagg. :thumbd:

I'm not looking for answers about this situation.

I'm questioning how much autonomy do you want your officers to display when confronted with ethical questions, or in the face of unacceptably high loses when they know they won't accomplish their objectives?

I will never rent or sell my place, but I believe they actually paused all rentals on the island for now. People are going to get crushed by not having the seasonal rental income. Plus the obvious impact on businesses.

I'm not surprised by that. FIL is in the process of selling his business - due diligence period - so they are ramping up their search. Problem is everything in the area they want is sold in like 24 hours. Or was, anyway.

You're moving the goalposts on me here. For the record I agree with what the Captain did but at the same time the military couldn't just let it slide. That shitshow with Eddie Gallagher is an example from the other end of the spectrum. Insubordinate behavior has consequences.

First Covid-19 case happened in November, China government records show - report

Jonathan Mayer, professor emeritus at the University of Washington’s department of epidemiology, said it was “entirely conceivable” there were cases as early as mid-November.
He said there were three possibilities: that cases weren’t detected at the time, that they were detected but not recognised as a new disease, or they were detected and recognised but reporting was suppressed.
“I have no way of knowing which of these possibilities in fact happened,” Mayer told the Guardian.

Remember rule 1.

All this anger you hold towards china is well warranted and if things were different in America i would be right along with you in anger.

The issues I am arguing is that before this hit the US we knew that it was a significant threat to Americans. We were lied to by foxnews on a daily basis, we were lied to by our President on a daily basis and now we have more cases of Corona than any other nation , and we are projected to have deaths in the 6 figure range.

WE will never know what happened in China. We will never get the full story. You are going to have to just accept that. As a citizen however you cannot except the deceit and misdirection being perpetrated at you on a daily basis. If you can't be outraged now when thousands are dying when can you be outraged. You want to harness that anger, focus it on the appropriate actors.

Ways you can focus your anger appropriately.

1. Do not allow media and or citizens to allow for the topic to get derailed . Focus should be made on what occured here in America.
2. Any company that runs ads on foxnews boycott immediately.
3. DO your best to inform every citizen of what truly happened in the media and with our federal government during the early days of this outbreak. It is unforgivable. And i for one will never forgive.
Cool.
The first COVID-19 case originated on November 17, according to Chinese officials searching for 'Patient Zero'
by the Chinese governments own admittance, they had a case November 17th. It could be earlier, they could have known about it, but they would not lie and make up a case for there being one on November 17th so that is a truth.
You act like Fox News is the end all be all news agency around. Trump shut the borders to China down fast. Fast enough? Obviously not.
After doing so he was blasted for being a racist and xenophobic by the same people that are now saying that he didn’t do enough soon enough. The same people who opted to buy things such as solar panels rather than stock up stuff like ventilators and masks on their own. The same people that praised Obama for doing anything 6 months after the SARS pandemic hit the United States and killing 1000 Americans.
But keep the hate in your heart and continue shilling for Xi for whatever reason.

I don't think technically free agency has to start in July. Players become free agents when the season ends.
Daly already said that a shortened free agency period wouldn't be an issue because most of the work gets done in the first 10 days and the last 10 days anyway.

It varies wildly depending on the situation.

Source: My fiancee and I have been caught in immigration hell for going on 3 years. No criminal record for her and I got a speeding ticket when I was 19. We've been through all American and Canadian options with highly-qualified Immigration Attorneys.
Going to Canada you have to prove that you can contribute to society. In America we have sanctuary cities where it doesn’t matter if you came here illegally and if you have committed any crimes in your home country or while here illegally. Then those same cities(well states) are now threatening to arrest people that are coming into their state from another state.

A 'league year' is July 1 - June 30. Any amendment to that would require agreement between the league and players.

Skeptics usually don't go ham and buy the entire stock of a store.

Generally speaking, the canned craft cocktails arent bad, as long as you know going into it that the bar is about similar to a happy hour well drink.
:laugh::laugh:

Southern Tier came down to Victory today with a supply of their sprits since our liquor stores are closed. Figured, why the hell not, I'll give it a shot

The canned cocktails didn't sound terrible, I'll report back
