I am afraid @saraciv420 is more concerned with seeming balanced to the front office than insightful to the fans. I get that her access is valuable, so I am not upset. But I will also be skeptical of where her analysis lands in the future.

If anything, that article really comes across as Sara running a bit of interference on Waddell’s behalf.

How do you write a “there are two sides to the story” article, wherein only one side is interviewed?

That article really pissed me off. It had nothing of value. It was nothing more than a summary of events, with maybe some elementary level speculation. There was no insider knowledge, no truth bombs. Why was there no deal to be had? Why do you leave a Checkers organization who just won a Calder Cup and has done a decent job of developing prospects? What was the hang-up? Why was the timeline of events the way it was? Give us facts rather than base line inferences. I could have written that article based on only reading tweets. It is frustrating that we have nobody willing to give us any real insight. And for her to title the article "Dissecting CH and CC Parting Ways" is embarrassing. Nothing was dissected it was just a compilation of very publicly accessible information. Total trash.

A writer that covers the Wolves wrote an article on the Wolves on CanesCountry. She mentions that the parent organization maintained control of the coaching staff “for several years.”

She said that when the Blackhawks sucked in the 90s/early 2000s, they tried to win as much as possible to be the team to see in Chicago. She acknowledges the idea that they cared more about winning than development but says that is something of the distant past.

It's fun having to explain to coworkers and friends who aren't Hockey fans about this change.

By fun, I mean it has the entertainment value of listening to shitty kpop music.

"Um, why is there a hockey team in Florida called the Panthers? Don't they like, know that's a football team? Are they like, going to be the Charlotte Panthers?"

Well genius, there is a real-life animal known as a 'Florida Panther'. Look it up. Yes they are aware of the NFLs Panthers, the Florida Panthers were actually first so they are not "copying" anyone. No, they are not going to be the 'Charlotte Panthers' because clearly not only would that be stupid, it would confuse shall we say, slow-minded folk like yourself.

I still hate this affiliation change
It totally sucks

I remember when I was talking about how the Wolves don't usually prioritize the fact they have an NHL affiliate due to how they value their independence (sure, social media right now is bragging about the affiliate change, but let's see how long this lasts) and people were all "What makes you think they DON'T CARE about their AFFILIATION, HUH?!"

Where can you find their affiliation information on the team website? Yeah, the announcement is on their website right now as news, but where can you find that affiliate information like on other AHL team sites?

When the world stops being so shitty, I'll probably head up to Rosemont and see the Wolves play to examine how the team actually lets fans know they are affiliated with the Hurricanes in practice.

For the record. 10 years is a LONG f***ing time to have 1 AHL affiliate.

Yeah, but when it's in your own backyard and you just won a Calder, you'd think the two sides would want to keep what they got. I will be damn surprised if for instance, the Jackets leave Cleveland or the Stars leave Austin.

To be fair, there's several AHL websites that are like that. The Checkers website right now barely has anything about their change in affiliation right now aside from the official announcement story. However I expect them to have a "Proud Florida Panthers affiliate" or whatever in a banner somewhere.

For starters, maybe get rid of that ugly maroon and yellow? The logo is what it is but those colors are eye-burners. Do that first, and then maybe we'll talk about Carolina-themed nights.

Dundon said in Gold’s podcast that we lose 15-25 training days a year with the prospects because of Charlotte’s high travel requirement. That put us at a disadvantage. Chicago takes plenty of 1 hour bus rides to games versus 3 different flights to get all the players there like Charlotte.

Chicago does give us better facilities and more nhl ready depth players.
