lol, oh Cowboys.

Trying to look tough by cutting him but the next day they have egg on their face.

Wow - the Cowboys can't win with some people. If they didn't cut him some would say that they are too soft and others say if they did cut him then they acted too hastily. To be honest - when the Cowboys drafted Ryan Switzer ( 4th round - 133rd overall ) in the last Draft it was probably the end for Whitehead in Dallas anyway.

Did they not bring in 4 receivers and have since released only 1? They could use a cornerback and I would not be shocked if Matthews is traded for one.

4 + Matthews from last year = 5. Matthews was the only real receiver last year, the rest might have had WR in their job title, but that was only because there was nobody else who actually was one that could hold it.

What a bizarre story. So the Cowboys quickly rushed to cut a replaceable player and send a message because of all of the other issues they've had and it turns out this is the one guy who is actually innocent? Haha.

I listen to both Philly sports radio stations. Something is up with Matthews. I will leave it at that.

Yeah, but they also cut a guy who wasn't going to make the team. No point bringing him back only to be cut a few weeks later.

Mike Garafolo ✔ @MikeGarafolo
La'el Collins finally gets paid. He and Cowboys have agreed on a two-year, $15.4m extension thru 2019, source informed of the deal says.

Collins would've been an RFA after this year. Cowboys bought that year and one year after for $7.7m average (second highest among RTs).

Gaining back some of that money he lost by not going in the first round/undrafted.

Guess they feel confident he'll be a good RT right away

The Cowboys are actually doing Whitehead a favour. Cutting him now gives him more time to try and catch on with another NFL team.

Good for him. Now here's a guy that was wrongfully accused of a serious crime and it cost him heavily as he went from a probable 1st round pick to not getting drafted at all. Losing out on a 1st round pick's rookie contract caused him to lose out on some some serious cash in his rookie season but he didn't go whining to the media about what had wrongfully happened to him and now he's finally getting rewarded.

Barring any major injuries that Cowboys O-Line is going to be the best in the NFL for at least the next 4-5 years. :handclap:

Jerry kept his word.
I agree about the O-line. Just got to figure out the LG spot, but with two All-Pro players surrounding that spot we just need someone who is competent and we are in great shape.
Never would of guessed Green would be tried at LG and Collins at RT.

Griffen still had two years left on his deal at a discount but they took care of him early. Nice to see him get rewarded for his great play.

It sounds like Rhodes' extension should get done sometime this week.

Pure scum.

Far from it but don't let that stop you from posting nonsense.

Anyway - Whitehead has been picked up by the Jets.

from profootballtalk.com:

Lucky Whitehead has found his new team.

Whitehead, the receiver recently released by the Cowboys, has been claimed on waivers by the Jets. The move makes some sense, as Whitehead is both young and cheap, two qualities the Jets are looking for in this rebuilding season: The 25-year-old Whitehead is playing for the league-minimum salary on the contract he signed as an undrafted rookie in 2015.

The Cowboys placed Whitehead on waivers yesterday after an odd situation in which police said he had been arrested for shoplifting, only to say later that they had actually arrested someone else who gave them Whitehead’s name. Dallas appeared ready to move on from Whitehead for both on-field and off-field reasons regardless of the facts of that case.

With the Jets, Whitehead will compete for a roster spot as both a receiver and a return man. He probably has a better chance of making the 53-man roster in New York than he did in Dallas, so getting waived at the start of camp â€Âƒâ€šÃ‚†rather than at the end of the preseason - may turn out to be a lucky break for Whitehead.

I mean, he is the a top three receiver but they just don't get paid. Antonio Brown is the highest but only the 16th highest paid player at $19.9 million per year. Discounting Jabril Peppers as a $2.1 billion per year outlier, Andrew Luck is the highest at $27 million. Good luck with that.
