I don't understand why people want to send Acciari up to the press box for the playoffs.

He's been solid all year and he's a key part of our 2nd PP pair with Schaller.

I just don't get it.
I don't see really anyone advocating to sit Acciari, it's just if the group ever gets 100% healthy, someone's gotta sit. Donato's emergence has made the line combos less obvious, as there's not a clear weakest forward.

When the team was at its best this year, the lines were

Marchand-Bergeron-Pasta
DeBrusk-Krejci-Nash
Heinen-Nash-Backes
Schaller-Kuraly-Acciari

If we have all those guys healthy, which is a huge if, where does Donato fit in?

One of Donato or Acciari is going to be the 13th. Wingles, in my mind, is the 14th, Gionta the 15th.

While Donato's been great, he's my first choice to sit depending on who we play and obviously who is healthy.

We finally have a great 4th line and I want to see what they can do in the playoffs since their style is suited for it.

If we play Toronto, I think you find a way to keep him in the line up. Now if we play a more physical team, I would sit him.

Its a great problem to have and I'm glad I don't have to make the decision

absolutely hard decision too make but playing a physical team.. I think Donato is weaker against that type of team well said Cat.

You do not sit a player who has 5 goals and 8 points in 10 games. You don't need to have Schaller, Kuraly and Accari out there to start the post season. Sean Thornton sat in 2011 to allow Seguin to be in the lineup. If Donato goes cold then you switch things up for a couple of games. You know what your going to get with Accari and you can live without him. If Donato stays hot it has a much bigger impact on a series. If he is cold you make the switch and get a potential boost from Accari's physicality and energy but you see if Donato keeps the streak going first, it would be asinine to pull him from the lineup when he is producing at such a high rate.

Imagine if Clode were here. He'd scratch Debrusk and put f***in' Gionta on the second line because playoff experience.

Note: All of this assumes both Nash's and Kuraly are health enough to play at the start of the playoffs.

My preference is this:

Marchand-Bergeron-Pastrnak
DeBrusk-Krejci-Nash
Heinen-Backes-Donato
Schaller-Nash-Kuraly

I think it gives you three capable scoring lines, and a good defensive 4th line. You lose a PK guy in Acciari, but I think Kuraly and Donato are better, and you still have Bergeron, Marchand, Schaller, Kuraly, Riley Nash, and Rick Nash, as guys who have average 1:00+ of SH TOI per game (Rick is 0:59, but I'm including him).

I think it's more likely they go with this:
Marchand-Bergeron-Pastrnak
DeBrusk-Krejci-Nash
Heinen-Nash-Backes
Schaller-Kuraly-Acciari

Donato is put in if they're struggling to score goals. I think we got our answer about Donato/DeBrusk/Heinen the other night against Florida, where Donato was demoted, and DeBrusk-Krejci-Heinen played together.

Because someone such as Donato brings more to the table. I assume that Acciari's your current favorite (judging by your avatar), so maybe you're a little biased when it comes to suggestions that he sit come playoff time.

If Riley is healthy, he’s one if the key PK guys along with Schaller, Bergeron, and Marchand. That would make Acciari less of a need.

If Riley isn’t healthy, Donato and Acciari will both play.

I believe that Riley has been unable to put his helmet on because of the stitches (and swelling)?? No helmet, no skate.

Kuraly has to have a concussion with the way they have treated it. Does anybody have any idea when it happened?
Forth line hasn’t been the same without him,it’s a huge loss with that line not playing the way they have, that line has been so important for them, maybe not scoring a bunch of goals ,but they have had games where they have really changed the momentum.

The playoffs haven’t started yet. I’m hoping both Riley and Kuraly can make it back for Game 1. If not, whomever they put in will have to elevate their game.

Haven’t even heard Cassidy mention Kuraly’s progress so would be very surprised to see him ready by Thursday.

Marchand Bergeron Pasta
Debrusk Krejci Nash
Heinen Riley Nash Backes
Schaller Kuraly Acciari
Gionta Wingels Donato

Chara McAvoy
Krug Miller
Grz Holden
Mcquaid

Injuries are bound to happen. So everyone is probably going to play at some point

Forward lines is hardest to predict, but Cassidy should stick with the lineup that "made" this team this season

loved that acciari line last night. if riley nash isn't ready for game 1, wonder if they do this:

marchand-bergy-pasta
debrusk-krejci-uncle rico nash
heinen-kuraly-backes
schaller-acciari-wingels
donato/gio out

kuraly had some chemistry with backes last spring as well.

Yes bench Donato. Love what he has done but we should go back to what got us here.

People are saying bench Donato?

How high are you guys? I mean that nicely (and I'm pretty high right now myself)

you must not be high enough :)

yes bench him. Right now he is a PP specialist. Or can score when he has space due to a mistake. Which rarely happens in hockey at this time of the year

he hasn't been effective (5 on 5) for the last 3-4 games (minus vs the lowly sens)

He has the skills but has to tighten up nuts and bolts (strength, skating, finish school and have his homework be 100 percent tape)

You can't sit Heinen, Acciari over Donato when Nash, Nash, Kuraly are back for Thurs

I am not sure a rusty Kuraly not 100% is worth benching him for. Let Kuraly enter the picture mid series like he did last year if you ask me. I think Donato gets benched at some point but I play him game 1. I go with your lineup and Donato on the 4th or maybe keep him on the second and ease Rick Nash back in on the 4th.

And it goes without saying lets all collectively pray that Gionta never plays for us again.

The weird thing is right now my biggest concern is Chara and McAvoy since both looked shaky over the last week. But both those guys are totally capable of flipping a switch for the playoffs and upping their games. Its sort of a good 'concern' to have.

Who do you think the Bruins will name as black aces?

I would say the 2 locks are Zane McIntyre, Austin Czarnik and Tommy Cross.

Toronto is a fast skilled team, not a lot of jam, plus with Miller/McQuaid/Chara/ we can bang with them if needed.
Marshy-Bergy-Pasta is a staple and we're 99.9% not changing that
Debrusk-Krejci-Nash will be the 2nd line as long as Rick is good to go and I'm excited about that line to be back
Donato-Nash-Backes.......... Donato simply is more of a game breaker and speedy, Heinen sits in my opinion
Schaller-Kuraly-Acciari that's the 4th line that has been so good all season. Tough sitting Wingles but if Acciari makes bone head mistake, you swap them next game.

Chara-McAvoy- this is a no-brainer
Krug-Miller I haven't been paying attaention as of recent on who Krug has been playing with, I know it used to be Quaider prior to Carlo but I'd prefer Miller with the top 4 minutes

The Leafs have a 25% PP. We better be bringing our best power play because we know what theirs is gonna do. Hell I'll stick Donato on line 4 if I have to to bring him along.

There is no way Heinen can sit. I think it’s a crazy suggestion. Really, he should be riding with Krejci and Debrusk
