Damn would have help his chances if he had that gold medal. He is going to need another 300 points to get into the "lock" area. How many years did he say he wanted to play?

I believe he said two or three. I think we can guarantee 180 points if he plays 3, plus whatever he puts up this season.

It is going to be hard for me him to get in based on stats. Going to need another cup or two.

He is 118th in Goals, 109th in Assists, 99th in Points, and 65th in +/-

If you used his adjusted stat line - 87th G, 87th A, and 80th in Points. Those pretty much take him to the "locked area", but I won't trust the HoF until he gets to the locked area for total points (around 1100).

I'm not sure I wanna sign Darche unless it's a two way. Who sits, or goes down when Henrique gets back provided everyone is healthy? You're not gonna throw Tedenby back in Albany if he's playing good right? Unless a defenseman is traded we have no open spaces. And what happens if we do trade for a forward later on? Where's he gonna be slotted in?

Luongo - and Moose himself would have been the only real options for starting goalies left if Marty had bolted, and Moose would have been a short-term solution too.

21. When Martin Brodeur's future was uncertain, it appears the New Jersey Devils at least inquired about Luongo. Interesting. Now that Brodeur is signed for two years, it's no longer necessary.

Doesn't really say anything, doesn't really mean anything either.

It makes some sense when you are suddenly faced with having no starting goalie. Just glad it didn't work out that way.

I would have signed up for that. He's had a few rough playoff runs, but he's a vezina quality goalie in the back end of his prime. If he got out of a huge pressure environment like Vancouver and came to NJ I think he could thrive.

Remember when people wanted Luongo when Marty was struggling against Florida? This was not even a week after Luu lost the starting job against the Kings in the first round.:shakehead

I think Matteau goes back after his 5 games. No use in having him play on the 4th line all year anyway.

Will Lou try to get a first rounder for the draft? Don't they have to forfeit the pick this year?

Matteau is only going through a 5-game evaluation period so the Devils can see what he needs to improve on when he goes down to the minors.

That's all this is apparently.

Wasn't Volchenkov a number 1 D for the Senators? I remember everyone hyping him as the successor to Scott Stevens when he signed here.

He was the #2. Philips was his partner, and the #1.

If his value has sunk that low...
D'ags + 2014 2nd for Tallinder works for me.

Take it and run.

Hall of Fame player?

I love Elias, but I'm not sure he's hall of fame worthy at least yet.

He's almost there. I think if he makes it to 1000, he should get in, especially considering he had two productive years taken from him by the lockouts.

Well Matteau has already been trusted more than Janssen after 1 game so I wouldn't be so sure that he'll get sent back to Juniors. He also only played 5 fewer shifts than Tedenby. If he continues to get ice time and play well against tougher competition I wouldn't mind keeping him around.

I think the hockeyreference.com makes a good case...

His similarity scores put him with:
Oates, Kariya, Mogilny, Hawerchuk, Boomboom Geofrian, Fleury, Trottier and Alfredsson.

Trotts/Oates are in, Kariya will be on US vote alone, Alfredsson will be on Ott vote alone...

There are guys like Naslund, Hejduk, Lindros etc, ahead of him on the Goal list, but...

Get him 40 more goals and I think he's got a good case.

LA used 6d only thru playoffs - now lose Greene for yr, Mitchell uncertain return , lose depth (Hickey)on waivers-Lombardi may have to deal

Who would we want from them?

In regards to Matteau and the possibility of him sticking for the season... I want to bring up an NHL comparable who we've referred to when we've talked about his development; Lucic.

Looking at Lucic's stats, I'm seeing he played on the Bruins NHL squad right out of juniors. At age 19, having been drafted at #50.
Just wanted to mention that as food for thought, because if Matteau actually does stick for more than five games, it'll mean he's been consistently helping the team win, improving each game and that the coaching staff believes it's best for his development to play with the NHL club. (In my opinion anyways)
It's less rare than people think, prospects that young and drafted later making their case to stay with the big club when they get their chance. I'd be really excited to see Matteau stay with the Devils if his good play remains consistent and his development won't be stunted.

Seems like every offer i read from LA fans they are looking to trade Stoll for something. Outside of that it would prob. be a prospect and pick from them i would guess.

LA Fans offering Gagne for Tallinder/Volchenkov. Would love it. Gagne seemed to be the odd man out in the practice today.
