Remodeled our building (I work for a tech company) and convinced them we needed this for our game room. Has a working jumbotron, plays both anthems. It's incredible.

When we get our next house, I plan on getting a game room/office and I need one of these in there. Haha
I recently looked into getting one but then I saw the $6-7k price tag (included some customization) and that was the end of that!

Does it have a "Boo" button?
I never saw a bubble hockey game until i was in my early 20s, when my buddy and i visited my sister in Annapolis, MD. It was in a shopping mall, and we musta played that thing for 2 hours, but the whole time i thought "ok, i get it, you hold it down and it boos, but what exactly is the point?"

I think it was to voice your displeasure if your opponent trapped the puck in the corner and let time run out (only works against polite Canadians, eh). I think I first played it at Towson State in MD.

They had one at Jackson's downtown. When the Coyotes played in AWA, they would have bubble hockey contests and give free tickets to the winners. My buddy and I won 6 times.

Worker Power is opposed to GPLETs but looking out for the interests of working families. I wonder how many jobs would never have been created without GPLETs? Does Worker Power know businesses have other options?

The only jobs they create are for the people who run these groups.

BTW…. the spokesperson in this article is the guy who organized and ran CASE. The Phoenix based “workers group”. Which was the group that was first you object to TED.

CASE has since aligned itself with Worker Power which is an LA based group looking to go national.

My fire station is at Rio Salado and Alma school about a mile south of the concrete/gravel yard that is being looked at. We have ran calls at this location but it is not considered apart of Mesa, technically. My thoughts are if that’s the location that’s chosen, Mesa is going to need to annex that land at some point in the process to claim any benefit from the area. I don’t know what the logistics look like when stuff like this is built on a county island.

Is it all privatized? Who profits from this area if it’s built there? Obviously the team, but does the county? I don’t know how that works. Surely call volume would increase in that area for events held there. There’s no contract there for public safety. I believe water is private there as well?

It’d be a complete shame if Mesa didn’t do something to acquire that land and provide the necessary services for the area. Not to mention miss out on any profits from the build.

AIUI it’s a county island.

Mesa could supply the infrastructure to the site but Meruelo would have to pay for it.

It’d be a similar arrangement Glendale has with the Tohonos for the Desert Diamond Casino.

I’m not sure I agree. I could be wrong but If Mesa gets involved it goes to the ballot and gets voted down. The main appeal of the location is it’s not tied to a municipality.

I agree it would be in mesas best interest. And it would be a shame for them to miss out. But it was in tempes best interest too. And it was also a shame they missed out. I can’t see this ending any differently. People are just too lazy.

I was at a barbershop yesterday. 15 dudes. All major sports fans. All 20s-40s. They were having a laugh at my shoulder injury (they remember the femur) and hockey came up (I dislocated my shoulder and tore my labrum in men’s league). They all agreed that they could name only one single Coyote: Shane Doan.

A few thought he still played for them. A few thought they relocated a long time ago and a few thought they were in Glendale. Nobody knew they were at Mullett. And the ones who’d heard the Tempe deal failed assumed the Yotes were trying to rip off the city. I explained that while that was true in Glendale and true of every other arena deal ever, this was the first good arena deal in history and the Yotes were really helping Tempe out of a huge bind.

When I told them the voters hurt themselves in voting it down, the consensus was that is proof the valley doesn’t want this team. Cities are willing to forego good business just to avoid having to house this team. All agreed they should be thrown out of the state.
