Trade Proposals

Bracco didnt get one because Kitchener is dumb and gave him away for nothing. Partly because the Mem cup factor/forcing a trade. Ned is a goalie so he was never going to get a 16 year old in return.

Saginaw was sorta dumb to not seek 16 year old seeing as how they have 10000 picks. But maybe no trade clause prevented it from London. Still Saginaw got :
2018 2nd
2018 2nd
2019 2nd
2020 2nd
2017 3rd
2019 3rd

Most players of Stephens caliber go for 2 2nds, 2/3 3rds. I dont think he necessarily demanded a 16 year old. But saginaw still got a large haul. The only reason Erie gave McShane to Oshawa was simply because they didnt have the picks. Trust me, if they had the picks - Cirelli would not have demanded a McShane return. Instead it would have been 4/5 2nd and 3rd rounders and (maybe) a 17 year old. Cirelli was a unique circumstance.

The players that often demand a 16 year old are higher NHL picks that are top level offensive players - Konecny for example. Raddysh and Brown are the only ones that fit that mold from the 1998 crop of players that are likely to be moved.

That's exactly my point, though. WJT-calibre players often go for 16-year-olds-plus, but not always. It sounds like you're convinced you've parsed the kind of circumstances that might dictate whether or not they go for that price; I don't have that kind of confidence in my information-gathering ability. At this point in the season last year, I don't think it was unreasonable to project Bracco or Stephens fetching that kind of return.

I agree that Raddysh is the best guy available, but there still needs to be a fit somewhere. (Kitchener, maybe? They could use more top-flight forward talent.)

This is an interesting discussion, and maybe if I get the chance I'll pull up all of the trades we've seen of 16-year-olds/WJT guys and see what kinds of trends pop up. I expect you're right, and they're more common than I thought.

Also, let's all take a moment to remember that Barrie traded Brendan Perlini for Mitchell Theoret.

Can Dineen
What do you guys think the price would be?
Kitchener should be all over this guy as he fits a big need.

As should Petes, knights, hounds, sting
I can hardly wait to find out how much Butler holds out for...he hung onto Amadio

Not sure about the Petes. They looked lost playing the Rangers. They need more than Dineen.

To be fair, they're also going through a horrendous stretch. You didn't see the real Petes team at the Aud.

The amount of high-end talent potentially available at forward is truly ridiculous, and a lot of it comes from 3 teams:

Raddysh, Brown, Vilardi, Luchuk, Thomas, Pu, Jones, Miletic,

Definitely not a great year to be a seller.

Will it though?

If Jack wants to come to London and the Steelheads want to get something out of their 1st round pick....

Not necessarily cheap but..

Yes, it definitely would be. Hughes is going to be the 1st overall pick to the NHL. And not like Missy took a shot in the dark and took him with their 15th round pick, he went 8th overall. It would take a ton to get him

DiPietro along would take an '01 rookie and probably 4-5 2nds. Then one/two more 2nds for Luchuk and then another high level young player and 3 2nds for Day.
I can't see one team coughing up 2-3 really good young players and potentially upwards of 10 2nd round picks to get all 3 of those guys in one trade. That'd be one of the biggest OHL trades ever

I'm saying in the hypothetical situation where Hughes specifically wanted to play in London, I think his value would be reduced considerably.

Windsor needs picks in '18 & '19, which is why I prefer they trade with Kitchener or especially Ottawa.

Um, if Hughes will only report to one team or it's the NCAA, and if Missy wants, for arguments sake, four 2nd rounders for him, if the team he will report to will only offer two 2nd rounders, then Missy has a decision to make- take the two 2nds or get nothing for him.

What do you think you would do? I know what Missy would do. They'd hold out for more as long as they could but eventually take the two 2nds and call it a day. I'd rather have the two seconds and swallow a little pride than the alternative.

If Hughes would report to more than one team, it's a different story.

I like the general concept of it, but two issues...

1. This gives them three picks between now and 2020, which I believe is far less than they would want. Ideally, they'll get at least a handful of picks in that time frame (a couple each year or so).

2. Giving up two picks (3rd/4th) goes against what Windsor is looking to do.
