Tom McCollum?

I think ideally they sign a big AHL proven top 6 center still for one of those vet spots. Then probably Grant, letting Evans leave. We can find out if Nedomlel is ready to play the heavy D-man this year in a Evans like role. I think he is ready.

That Defense is looking ridiculous. Excited for the future.

I really hope they try and keep A2 at center and see how he develops. If its just not working then convert him over to Wing. It will be interesting to see who they fill the roster with though. Also hopefully Jurco is up in Detroit which opens another spot. Looks like Cleary in GR!

GRAND RAPIDS, Mich. – The Grand Rapids Griffins on Tuesday announced the signing of former Western Michigan University forward Shane Berschbach to a one-year contract.

Berschbach, 23, previously spent four seasons with Western Michigan from 2010-14, collecting 117 points (39-78—117) in 146 career collegiate games. The Clawson, Mich. native potted 38 points (16-22—38) in 40 contests with the Broncos during the 2013-14 season, earning him NCHC Offensive Player of the Week honors on three separate occasions. Last season, he also appeared in three games with the ECHL’s Kalamazoo Wings, tallying one goal and one assist.

In 2011-12, the 5-foot-10, 165-pound forward helped lead the Broncos to their first CCHA Tournament Championship since 1986 when he finished second on the team in scoring with 32 points (10-22—32) in 37 games.

Prior to attending Western Michigan, Berschbach served as a member of the USHL’s Indiana Ice from 2008-10 under current Griffins head coach Jeff Blashill. In two seasons with the Ice, Berschbach potted 79 points (32-47—79) in 98 regular season games and 17 points (8-9—17) in 19 playoff appearances. In 2008-09, he helped Indiana capture the Clark Cup by posting 44 points (20-24—44) in 56 regular season games and 10 points (4-6—10) in 10 playoff games. A two-time USHL All-Star, Berschbach made the 2009 U.S. World Junior A Challenge team, where he was named to the All-World line after his team won the tournament.

Wow, and we thought Jarnkrok had troubles putting on muscle. Looks like he could potentially be a good minor league scorer though. Is he a waterbug type?

Add Andy Miele, 100% surefire 1st line center.

I could see this center hierarchy:

XXX - Miele - XXX
XXX - Nosek - XXX
XXX - Porter/Nestrasil
XXX - Aubry/Porter

Id rather have Evans or Grant (who I believe do not have contracts), No offense to Cleary but we have what he can offer already

Miele is a local thug...it would be OK with me to sign him...oops didn't see any articles saying he was signed

Well Grand Rapids had a good day in terms of what they needed this off-season.... Not that anyone will care, just for me they are the favorites in the AHL today with what they have done.

especially now with Quincey back and Kindl/Lashoff still around, none of their defense are going anywhere unless there's injuries on the Wings

****ING HOLLAND and his ways! Didn't Babcock said that everytime XO played with the Wings he played better than with the Grand Rapids?

Babcock wanted Smith up a year before he was brought up as well. There's a whole host of evidence that shows Holland doesn't really know how to run a hockey club in the current environment.

What is the evidence? Is it fact or just opinion? I don't like some of his decisions either but to say he does not know what he is doing is pushing it, IMO.

14-15 Roster

Here's how I see the Griffins looking in 14-15, assuming that Jurco will start with the Wings and XO will start with the Griffs. If a D-man prospect (XO or Marchenko) is pulled up, replace that player with Lashoff on this team.

Given that the defense will only improve as prospects develop and the goaltending team is the same, the Griffs should be early favorites in the AHL. Also, that first line is going to terrorize the league.

I wouldn't be surprised if Miele ended up as a 2nd line wing, though, so that they can put a bigger center like Nesty or Nosek on the top line. Either way, this team will be good.
