Courage
My worry all along about Vatrano was how he was going to handle a slump. The answer was, not well.
Vatrano hasn’t scored in a long time, and that’s the only thing he was ever good at. We can’t keep rolling guys like Vatrano and Beleskey out there and then blame it on the center, especially next year when we could have a rookie like JFK, Studnicka or Frederic on the team.
needs more ice time.
Beleskey and Nash should be benched.
They need to call up cehlarik and put him on a line with Pasta and Krejci
Frankie looked really focused last night. skated really hard every shift, threw some hits and had some nice forechecking shifts and even took a shot! (also drew the key penalty). many positive signs even in what was probably like 5 or 6 minutes of ice time.
i think he is a significant upgrade over the other options but certainly is a reasonable choice to be rotated throughout the season. overall though, in my opinion, he is an NHL-caliber player in all ways except for positioning without the puck.
attaboy, Frankie!
Under 7 minutes of play...
That was 7 up tempo the opposite of passive playUnder 7 minutes of play...

Well got hurt in the 1st, drew the 5 min major PP which he wasn't on. Doesn't play special teams. 7 min. is pretty good all things considered.
I missed the first. OK that helps explain it.
Ummmmmmm he got rocked early in the first. Was surprised he was allowed back.
He didn’t return until later. I’m sure he had to go though the concussion protocol.
I feel for Frank. He’s a local kid and I want him to do well, but it appears as if he’s been passed on the depth chart by DeBrusk and Bjork for sure, and he’s got Heinen and Cehlarik in the rear view as well (waiver status may be the only reason why they are still behind).
With the situation in Boston right now, he’s not going to be getting big minutes so he needs to find ways to contribute in his limited TOI. I think the effort is there, but Heinen was able to put points up, even with limited 4th line minutes (1 assist was on PP). If Vatrano can’t do that, he’s going to end up on the outside looking in.

Question for fans here, say Vatrano is ok to go vs the Sabres and moving forward. How long are you willing to wait for him to put something on the board, he**, even an assist at this point before sitting him upstairs for a long time?
For me, I`m almost ready and willing now

He played with jam and hustle last night, I put him back in there.
At least he has the potential to score.
Compare him to a Sean Kuraly, who seems to have a line-up spot etched in stone and I'm not sure why other than he can play center.
liked his brief appearance last night as well, eventually though, if a shooter like him isn`t converting, can`t keep rolling him out there IMO
What could we realistically get if we traded Vatrano at this point? I can’t see them getting much of anything. How much more time should we give him to produce before putting him on waivers to bring up someone more deserving, like Heinen?
