I do not get the point of this at all.
I am not in the know nearly as much as most posters when it comes to cap ramifications and fitting Zib in future plans etc etc .
I know it’s dumbed down , but to me it’s - Rangers need another C . Why would you trade your best one away? What am I missing?

Rangers interests are LIKELY best served atm IF IF IF
they lose his being underpaid at 5.35 this season and next
and implement new deal, Zib goes 8-ish x 4 or 5.

Those #s are affordable given cap reality; they go post 30 but not mid 30.

IF he does not want to do that to stay here, and prefers to exercise his right to test the market to see what is max, THEN rangers have to move him or take nothing as he walks.

That then asks, what is value of Zib a la carte
OR
IF he does have more value in a package?

Which this thread shows is a complicated dynamic
as there are few suitors
and after the 2 yrs of improved cup chances could be paying the piper.

OP parameters:
NYR will not deal bluest blue chip elcs.

--------
Have at it.
Again, top offers, pls
Like from Avs,
Buch + Zib + Geo
for
Byram + Newhook + 2022 + 2023 1sts + acceptable cap dump(s).

somethin like dat.

want to assess value of package vs sold separately...

I think AVS says no.
AVS
- Projected cap hit: $81,166,577
Zibanejad $5,350,000 (UFA - 2022)+ Buchnevich $3,250,000 (RFA) = $8,600,000 ($ 4,300,000 @ 50% Ret???)

"The fully valued Zib is the key piece vs Byram". I do not think so.
Byram ELC $894,167 (2020/21 – top 4?) (2021/22 – top 2?) - Zibanejad $5,350,000

"Buch is the key piece vs Newhook". I do not think so.
RW Buchnevich $3,250,000 (Stanley Cup???)
RW AVS: Rantanen, Donskoi, Burakovsky

My alternative to strengthening the team.

AVS:

Foligno $ 5,500,000 (@ 50% Ret) = $2,250,000 (or Granlund $3,750,000 (@ 50% Ret) = $1,875,000)
CBJ:
Compher $3,500,000 + 1st 2021 + 3st 2021 + prospect B+
$3,500,000 (Compher) - $2,250,000 (Foligno $ 5,500,000 (@ 50% Ret)) = $1,250,000

You can add Staal, Eric
$3,250,000 (@ 50% Ret) = $1,625,000
BUF - prospect (B) + 3st 2022 + 4st 2022
over $ 375,000

Projected cap space:
$1,320,787 - $ 375,000 = $ 945,787
(+??? Del Zotto $700,000)

AVS is a balanced team. Byram, Newhook, Kaut, Barron, Timmins ….remain on the team.
There may be other options.
