You might be right.

Different topic. AUS All-Start Team. I will post below who I believe should be the all-stars. Not a prediction of how it will go, since coaches can't vote for their own players (and reportedly there is some horse-trading between coaches to spread the picks around). Rather the teams if I got to make the picks with no politics.

AUS All-Star 1st Team
G – Sam Richard - UNB
D – Matt Brassard - UPEI
D – Ross MacDougall - UNB
F – Liam Hawel - StFX
F – Matthew Struthers - StFX
F – Kyle Maksimovich - UPEI

AUS All-Star 2nd Team
G – Jonah Capriotti - UPEI
D – Adam McCormick - UNB
D – Justin MacPherson - SMU
F – Jacob Hudson - StFX
F – Austen Keating – UNB
F – Nathan Dunkley - SMU

AUS All-Rookie Team
G – Sam Richard - UNB
D - Jaxon Bellamy – SMU
D - Jacob Dion – UdeM
F - Simon Pinard – UNB
F - Cody Morgan – UNB
F - Benjamin Corbeil - UNB

Rookie of the Year
Sam Richard – UNB

Yup. Lots of rookies on UNB roster this year in case you didn't notice. Who would you choose?
I don't really know, because it will depend on the horse trading. Who's coach of the year? MVP? Best Defenseman? If Richard is 1st team and rookie it stands to reason he's the best goalie as well. You may not like the "politics" but it's there.

I am more interested in who you would choose, not who the coaches will choose. Richards is my goalie of the year. Still thinking about the others.

If you pick guys by their stats then of course UNB guys will be there because they have a good team.
But would Richards be as good if he was on a different team?
Would Pinard without Keating or whoever he plays with?
Would Hawell or Struthers be the same without each other?
These are important variables.
It's easy to look at the stat sheet and take the 2 best goalies, 4 D-men, 6 Forwards and do the same with the Rookies.

I'm not choosing for these very reasons, because I would do something similar.

Yes, I was thinking last night that Naugs might get the coaching award. I do think MacDougall is better than Brassard, but Brassard is a more important D-man for UPEI, while UNB is much deeper on the back end.

Dafonseca is probably a good choice for the rookie team. They'll never pick 3 UNB guys, even though those three rookies were sometimes on the same line, or usually two of them together at the same time. Corbeil did have a better cast around him.

I was wondering where to place Helvig, but he was outshone by Richard in my opinion.

Whoever gets the most points usually gets the MVP, which is why I never brought it up.

This is terrible. You don't have enough UNB guys.

Double upsets!
Acadia 5-3 win at Antigonish and Les Aigles with the overtime win on the Island.
ACA would be a "mild" upset, but UdeM certainly qualifies. ACA has been playing well of late and are full marks for the win. They have a hard working team. Not the most skilled, but hard working.

Even the UPEI-written game summary was hard on the Panthers blown lead.

I only watched the third period, but even then UPEI looked like they really missed Brassard while UdeM seemed fine without Mika Cyr.

I didn’t get to see either game last night. Looks like Raaymakers had a rough one.

I still expect the Panthers to come back against Les Aigles. They want to be able to win at least one series be the Nationals.

I read that too. But, they're just fans like everyone else. I'm probably one of a few "objective" people here. Not saying it's happening, but you don't know the subconscious thoughts of the players - "If we lose, we're still going to the Nationals". We'll see how they respond Friday. I'll be at ACA to watch that game.

If they can't rebound to get by Timbit and gang, it's going to be a long layoff!
