Flint's 5th pick, Center Ty Dellandrea was interviewed by the OHL network in his Flint Firebird jersey and hat and gave every indication he planned on reporting to Flint which is a big relief. Also, very impressed with their selectons of C Hunter Holmes, D Jack Busby, RW Jack Wismer, and LW Ryan Littlejohn. Great size to these 5 picks. All within the first 48 picks.darryl knight

i think Flint has done an excellent job drafting so far

What would a first round or two of the best available regardless of commitment look like?

if Sudbury can get ty emberson to report....got him in 10th rd....rated top 10 in draft..it would be the steal of ohl draft

Emberson will never play in the OHL... has about 4-5 colleges fighting for him, an agent who does not send to Junior, and the list goes on... there is a reason even London, Kitchener and Windsor did not take him....

I don't' agree. While it may be improbable Jenkins, Weiss and Wilde are committed and got taken. McBain who said he's going NCAA got taken in the first round as well. Big risks but we've seen players report, maybe not first year but second.....

Saginaw with some sneaky picks. Would be great for them if they all turned out

Hopefully Holmes and Dellandrea develop into high end OHLers for Flint. That org needs some positive change

10th round pick is a smart risk. If he comes, great, if not, it cost a 10th rounder that 90% of the time wouldn't make the team. If he gets drafted and signed by an NHL team, they may push the junior route.

Interesting Sudbury takes AA goalie from Markham Islanders (how much did they see him in game action at AA or St Andrews College?) while some very proven tenders passed over-YSE, Clarington, TRW, Majors, Marlies.

That is a head scratcher for sure.

Joe Bowen's son, former announcer of the wolves. Purely a political pick, par for the course in Sudbury.

Joey Bowman's son born and raised in Sudbury. Has a banner hanging from the rafters in his honor. Joey has done a lot for this community and raised a lot for charities both here in Sudbury and of coarse down south with his annual golf tournament. A great gesture by the organization and hats off to them.

Exactly. Lots of teams to favours for families that have worked hard for the team or community. No big deal. Most of the kids don't make it anyway. Its just to say they were drafted. Good on the Wolves.

Curious to see how many of the first round report this year, seems to be more picks up in doubt then usual.

Honor Joe then, dont make a mockery of the draft. Some very good goalies overlooked for a player that hasnt played a second of AAA hockey, not cool.

Statistically what round picks have the best chance to actually play in that OHL?

It 'seems' all 1st & 2nds (that report) play. It also seems as many 4ths play 3-4 years as 3rds. After the 5th, odds decrease signicantly. That is just an observation.

Really??? Thanks...

You're welcome. I answered your question as you asked it.

If you really care that much you could have spent 10 seconds on Google and found that EliteProspects filters player stats from previous OHL drafts...

EDIT: Here you actually go. Everything pulled from EliteProspects in 30 min. Only covers the years 2002 - 2011 which covers the OAs from last year.

% who played in 1 game or more first, with % playing > 100 games in parentheses. Remember that there's on average 20 picks per round, the percentages can be a bit deceiving (1 player = 5% on this graph).

Round 1: 97.54% (95.07%)
Round 2: 94.55% (83.17%)
Round 3: 81.00% (65.00%)
Round 4: 77.50% (54.50%)
Round 5: 62.00% (38.50%)
Round 6: 53.50% (33.50%)
Round 7: 48.50% (26.50%)
Round 8: 37.50% (18.50%)
Round 9: 33.00% (13.50%)
Round 10: 23.00% (11.00%)
Round 11: 28.00% (15.50%)
Round 12: 23.00% (10.50%)
Round 13: 25.00% (11.00%)
Round 14: 18.50% (7.50%)
Round 15: 16.67% (6.06%)

Thank you,I missed the tab where you could filter the stats on my iPad. I appreciate the link ( even though I'd be embarrassed to tell you how long it took me to figure it out). Cheers! Edit to say double thanks for the percentages, much appreciated!!
