This guy never had a chance, from being dressed as the 7th guy to play on the 4th line most of the nights....o well now Diaz, Tinordi and Beeaulieu all passed him on the depth chart.And Eliis,Dietz,Nygren coming up so it time to move on.

Like others said this is really confusing, great in the OHL and in the AHL RH shooting D with over 100 NHL games under his belt and he is not worth anything?

I've always been a Weber fan, but to say he didn't have a chance just isn't true. He's simply not played well enough to hold a top 6 spot on our D. Got passed by Subban, passed by Diaz, now got passed by Beaulieu and Tinordi. He had a stretch of about 20-30 games last season where he had a real chance to make his mark, and he was just ok...

I hope he can find a spot somewhere else in the League, because he could be a bottom paring guy that helps the PP.

Drewiske signed for 637k, Weber's QO is 945k.

White's QO is around 700k.

Maybe at 600 or 700k Weber has a lot more interest with a dropping cap.

I had read somewhere that MB was trying to move him this season but wanted at least a 3rd rounder for him. If true, obviously no takers, but would be really surprised nobody will give anything for him and that he isn't worth qualifying.

It's a fairly chunky QO for a guy who probably still won't play for the team. Does it have to be 1-way since his last deal was? I forget. If so, obviously they won't qualify him.

And hopefully he finds a home and can blossom with the change of scenery. It's too early for him to head back to the Swiss league or whatever. He showed flashes of being able to play in the NHL. It would be nice if he could get a fresh start somewhere before giving up. Although if there is KHL money in play, he would probably do well there, probably better than having to try to prove himself all over again in a new NHL organization.

It's hard to believe weber has zero value league wide, even with the pricier 1-way QO, no reason not to sign him, let him try to win a spot in camp, and if he fails, let him rip it up in Hamilton until some team comes calling with an offer in-season.

- weber, for all his detractors, is NHL- level in many of his skill sets. He'd easily tear it up in the ahl if he can't crack the habs, and while he may have minimal interest right now,if he's up near a ppt pace in the ahl, which he can do, it's almost a given that some team nearing the deadline would be happy to pick him up for a late pick.

Hope mb manages this asset properly...

The loss of a "potential" asset of a 6th or 7th rounder is really no loss at all.

I think it's more about his QO. If his QO was 650-700k he'd be easy to move but at 950k, not as easy.

Getting Drewiski over Weber isn't really an improvement. Maybe salary wise but that's it. So if they're not moving big on the UFA market, It's going be more than disappointing.

It's probably 95% about his QO as he would be a very good #7 d-man with upside.

Salary arbitration (the next step available) can only save you 15% off the Q.O. Should Weber reject that, I believe he can sign with anyone, for anything, and if he signs for less than $1.0X million/year the Habs would get no compensation despite still being RFA throughout the process.
