The dumb management we had in the past can be thanked for Weber not working out here. Anyways hope he finds success with another team.

Don't agree with Engels saying he never got a shot here. He definitely did get extended looks and never did enough to stick. He got shafted this year, but that's only because Therrien and the staff clearly didn't believe in him enough to put him in there.

Hope he catches on elsewhere. That mythical shot of his was too often missing in action.

Not sure about that. Having guys like Piccard and Campoli take up his icetime was :help:

His development got stunted somewhere along the line. I think he lost confidence to tell you the truth. Waste of a talented dman IMO.

Good luck Yannick. There'll be a #6 d-spot with PP duties for you somewhere.

Weber's problem was that Diaz came in and did everything he did, except much better. Save his shot, Weber has quite the blast.

His development stalled 2 years ago, he looked promising in the 2009 playoffs and looked good the first 15 games of the 2011-12 season as the PP point shot. He suffered from a lack of playing in the NHL, a lack of size and a surplus of defensemen of his style on our team. I dont think it's a big loss but I'm disappointed that we won't get anything for him.

We could still sign Weber very easily. They may not have wanted to pay him the QO, but if he's willing to sign for less, he may.

But he'd probably be smarter signing elsewhere after we signed Bouillon and Drewiske.

He is a useful NHLer, just needs to go to a team that needs his particular skillset. The mix on our defense is already saturated with skilled PMD's. I'll repeat what I keep saying, he'll be a solid #5-6 who'll help a PP on a team that needs his skillset. He's a lot better than MAB who had a decent run in the NHL.

He might be better overall than MAB but there is absolutely no way he's as effective on the powerplay. Specialist players like him need to be great at what they do and he hasn't shown that here at least despite a lot of opportunities. Our team has made defensemen look like gods of the PP for years yet Weber never looked like one. He did have a couple of nice goals on the very rare occasions he managed to unleash his powerful shot, I'll give him that.

I really thought he still had some value, I mean I still see some potential in the guy.

Maybe he will go in the Swiss league ? I see him going to NYI though, sign cheap and probably play well there.

He stayed a pretty good professional, so I which him good luck and hope he can get it all together on a team that isn't in the Habs division.

He lost a season with us.

He will find a team that will give him ice time.
Any team who has big d-men but lacking PP and PMD.

With the good partner, Weber can play in NHL.

Still two years younger than Diaz.
So next season, he will have the age Diaz had when he came with us.

He lost 2 seasons. In 2012 he started the season very well, I thought, then like everyone else had a few bad games. Got benched, came back as a forward and spent a great part of the rest of the year in the bleachers.

Never had a chance as far as I see it. Wish him luck and success somewhere else.

I wouldnt say he was always a good professional. He appeared on L'antichambre I believe shortly before cammy made his playing like losers comments and said he believes he should be playing more because he is clearly a better defenseman than most of the ones playing instead of him. Or something along those lines.

Disagree... He never got an "extended" look, unless you count that brief stint where he was bounced in -out of the lineup as a 7th dman or 4th line forward.

Last year he didn't get any kind of shot at all, and amazingly had an even shorter audition period than Kaberle got.

Classic example of a terribly managed asset (going back to previous management/coaches).

I'll put it here very simply... Weber will end up being a very good NHLer somewhere, and in the not-so-distant future (1-3 years, depending on where he ends up signing).

has all the tools to be an effective offensive dman. Clearly needed a combination of time/experience & confidence/trust to develop his game... as most dmen inevitably do.

our loss, and a much bigger one than people seem to appreciate right now.

Guys can you just stop already with your "Weber should have been traded for a pick!".

What do you think??? Bergevin tried, nobody wanted Weber. He's gone now. Get over it.
