Prospect Info: With the 39th Overall Pick the New York Rangers Select Olof Lindbom

They should still draft another goalie (late!) or at least look to sign a UDFA. They're going to lose some depth in the system soon.

The Rangers have a few scouts who use to be goalies and they have Benoit Allaire. Over the last decade they signed Cam Talbot and Alexandar Georgiev as free agents....and the Rangers are not one of those teams that are usually beset by goalie problems. If you can pick guys like Talbot and Georgiev out of thin air--if you grab a guy like Lundqvist in the later rounds. It also seems (at least since Richter) as if when we use an early pick on a goalie though (Blackburn, Montoya, Lafleur, Halverson) it doesn't work out. And Shesterkin is another case in point--a 4th rounder and maybe even Huska. Which is another reason I wasn't keen on Lindbom in the 2nd.

No one knows. He's a goalie so my assumption is a hip flexor or concussion, which I hope is neither.
