Boqvist: I don’t know. I try not to think about the concussion, just play the game. Of course when you have the concussion, you think about it. I don’t know.

Clearly Boqvist himself is just trying to pimp Hughes on these boards cause he’s a Canucks fan. So transparent.

Edit: Though in fairness to that poster, there are several Canucks fans on this board and in this thread doing exactly what he’s accusing me of so I can’t totally blame him. We do have a big and, at times, unbearably obnoxious fanbase. But inventing concussion rumours is a new one to me.

You can't try to force this to be true without proof.

If you have it, go ahead and post it. If you can't, don't embarrass yourself.

This has been stated a lot, yet no one wants to back it up. The Whiskey Chief claimed three concussions, he accounted for one. Canafan was trying to reason why Boqvist had to have had two concussions, as if he was his doctor. If you want to go down this road, you can, but prove it. Otherwise, you are another rumor monger.

I have a problem because you claimed something you couldn't prove?

What's funny is how seriously you are taking this. Its a hockey forum. If you say something that is questionable and you haven't showed proof of, expect to be called on it. Trying to claim that someone who called you on it "has a problem" is pretty funny.

No one has to “prove” anything. This isn’t a court of law, this is a discussion board. The evidence doesn’t need to be 100% iron clad, which seems to be your expectation, but only reasonably probable. We have statements from Mark Edwards confirming it is a concern amongst NHL scouts (evidence), we have Boqvist himself describing that he has had *at least* one concussion (he never clearly stated whether he has had 1,2, or 3). That is ample evidence for any reasonable, unbiased person on the matter.

You clearly are not one of those two things.

That’s some mighty fine sophistry you got there.

You wanted it, here’s both barrels:
Supertalangen hoppas på utlåning: "Skulle vara bra för min utveckling" - Hockeysverige
Money quote:
"It's been okay. I did well on "Hlinka" (Ivan Hlinka Memorial Cup U18 national team). When I got home from there I was allowed to join the A team. After that, I received a concussion that I recently came back from.
Do you have any chores of the brainwash?
- No, I do not know anything.

Note that this was in November of ‘17. He missed more games in early 2018 due to his second.

This is exactly what I mean. Speculation. I've seen this stuff a million times. Its a waste of everyone's time. I'm not going to say the same thing anymore.

Either there is proof of two or there's not. Don't try to play doctor and connect the dots. Show proof there were two or more than two, as you said.

In fact, if one was to parse something out of his words, he mentions "the concussion" twice in the first interview you posted. "The" wouldn't normally mean more than one, if referring to something like an injury.

Obviously proof exists somewhere in the world (most likely a filing cabinet in Sweden). It’s funny that you think it’s just sitting there on the internet waiting for someone to grab it. Medical records are usually confidential yet that seems to be the only thing you’ll accept as “proof”.

Nice little bunker you’ve devised to keep your fragile Boqvist opinions safe from harm.

You are right. You are the moral compass for this website.

Can you at least admit that you weren't able to back up what you claimed? It doesn't mean you are wrong nor you need to prove anything, but if you take part in rumor mongering and you are pressed, why cry foul when someone asks you for proof? In fact, you had the nerve to come after the fact that I had asked if someone could provide some proof of this.

Would you be okay with someone continuously stating Svechnikov is older than his stated age? Using your logic, no one has to prove anything. If someone wants to keep mentioning those rumors, it would seem to be something you'd approve of since the rumor has started and its a theory that one could attempt to back up.

Listen to how deranged you sound. You are claiming that an 17 year old kid has had multiple brain injuries. When asked for proof, you say that you don't need to prove it.

I don't know the truth. Didn't claim I knew one way or the other. I don't think its much to ask for proof of the validity of a rumor. And if it can't be produced, I think its logical to say that it should stop being talked about until it can be proven.

Of course its obvious why you are pressing this issue so hard. You are trying to put down a player you view as similar towards Hughes. But of course that couldn't be because you tell us you are too good for that, and its only a faction of "bad Canuck fans" that you certainly aren't part of.

I’m not saying any such thing.

I’m saying others in positions to know have concerns over his concussion history. I do think it’s reasonable to take this as evidence that Boqvist’s concussions should be viewed as a risk factor when assessing him. I’ve never said he’s had 1, 3, 5, or 100 concussions.

Don’t invent fake narratives when your original argument goes to shit.

What is “proof” in your eyes? How accessible is this “proof”? Why is the words of NHL scouts and an admission of at least one concussion by Boqvist not tantamount to proof in your mind?

Please answer these.

What “proof” do you have that those are my intentions? And be sure to be as rigorous with my “Canuck bias” as you are with Boqvist’s concussion history. You’ve set the bar high champ, now live up to it.

I think someone or multiple people in the top 15 will bust.
Dahlin - Unlikely
Svechnikov - Unlikely
Kotkaniemi - Possible but I think his floor is a 3C personally.
Tkachuk - Possible too but his physical play and size ensure that he can at least be a 4th liner.
Hayton - Possible but like Kotka I see at least a 3C.
Zadina - Unlikely
Hughes - (Homer vote incoming) Unlikely only because his skating and vision are insane and I think he's at least a PP specialist.
Boqvist - Possible only due to concussion history, otherwise floor of PP specialist.
Kravstov - Possible only because of draft position and the lure of Russia.
Bouchard - Possible but I dont think it will happen, I think he has a floor of a top 6 defenseman.
Wahlstrom - Unlikely IMO great set of skills.
Dobson - Possible but similar to Bouchard I think hes at least a top 6.
Dellandrea - Possibly the highest bust outcome of the top 15 picks, not really sure what he excels in.
Farabee - Possible but I see 3rd liner written all over him at the very least.
Denisenko - Don't know much about him but his numbers in Russia are pretty good, probably similar to Kravstov in potential.

Has anyone said Zadina yet? I think his skating might be a problem. He could struggle to create his own shot.

I unfortunately haven't watched every prospect in the first round play like the rest of you gentlemen/ladies, so I will just say my two red flags for a player busting are:

- Relying on size+strength to excel against smaller opponents
- Have suspect hockey IQ

A lot can be improved upon like edgework, skating and even vision to a certain degree. But a player who relied on their strength in the minors will likely have used that tool at the expense of everything else and will take a period to re-adjust in the big leagues. Sometimes they get it. A lot of times, they don't.

For hockey IQ, I think that's just innate. Knowing where to be when you don't have the puck, knowing how the play is going to develop, where people will be or react.. hard to develop that.

That's why people mentioning Sandin confuse me somewhat. He has a higher chance of being an NHLer than Liljegren imo.

Don’t invent fake narratives when your original argument goes to ****.

The people who are in position to know are the player, his agent, his family, his coaches, his teammates. A writer who hasn't even confirmed that he has it on good authority, as opposed to repeating the rumor without extra info, is pretty weak proof.

What you said is there for everyone to see. You can try to explain what you meant, but lets not re-write what is already there.

What is “proof” in your eyes? How accessible is this “proof”? Why is the words of NHL scouts and an admission of at least one concussion by Boqvist not tantamount to proof in your mind?

I mentioned above. If we want to stretch the definition, maybe we could add an expert like McKenzie or Friedman. A prospect, who you don't even know whether he has inside info on this, is a really weak argument of proof. We do not have confirmation of more than one concussion from anyone who would have a direct connection to the situation or any of the premier "insiders" in the game.

What “proof” do you have that those are my intentions? And be sure to be as rigorous with my “Canuck bias” as you are with Boqvist’s concussion history. You’ve set the bar high champ, now live up to it.

The difference that you don't understand or don't want to acknowledge is that I am not claiming anything as fact or that I'm most reasonably correct. I am giving my opinion of what I've observed. I don't know whether its correct or not. I'm not going to even bother to say there's anything other than my observation to support it. I can't say the same for what has been said about Boqvist.
