Alex DeBrincat 41 goals, 35 assists, 76 points, a buck over 17 minutes avg ice time / game
- from 30 & 40 (50) goal scorers he had the least ice time per game.

He did get plenty of ice time more what to his rookie season; from 14 minutes to 17 minutes,
next season hoping for at least 20 minutes avg of ice time.

- it would be foolish not to expect 50 goal, 90-100 point season from him

From the sophomore's, Alex was by far the best,
1. DeBrincat: 76 points, 2. Connor: 66 points, 3. Barzal: 62 points, 4. Dubois: 61 points, 5. Strome: 57 points

_________________________

Most goals in a single season (2016 draftee):
1. Laine 44 goals, 2. DeBrincat 41 goals, Matthews 40 goals

Most points in a single season (2016 draftee)
1. Tkachuk 77 points, 2. DeBrincat 76 points, Matthews 73 points

PS. Alex DeBrincat played as a 20 and 21 year old this season .

yep came here to say debrincat. what an absolute monster

I remember that main board thread saying Sebastian Aho should get consideration for the Hart Trophy because he was a one-man-army-offense on the Hurricanes. I replied, "not really, they also have Teräväinen".

"OMG, :help: are you serious !€%&¥!!¢‰&%/!!" was the answer.

Not long thereafter Teräväinen was picked off the Aho line, but continued to put up points with wicked offenseman Jordan Staal whereas Aho fell back to earth, and at seasons end Aho finished only 7 points ahead.

Aho also has had a injury lingering for the past about 15 games. its not 100% because he was away from tuevo because he was doing really well with nino and williams.

Also i think pesce was the canes best defenseman this year, not a knock on what slavin has done this season but with him being away from pesce it was shining a light on how much pesce actually did on the defensive side with him. not to mention him stepping up his offensive game with 7 goals and 22 assists (29 points) was a plus 35 and winning a faceoff? Highly under rated and currently a untouchable with aho slavin tuevo and svech for me imo.

Peter Mrazek had a .914 SV% and 2.39 GAA with 40 starts is really impressive IMO with the canes goaltending problems in the past.

Tuevo was great this season and i agree under rated and not a product of aho also

(edit for adding my under rated players)

Esa Lindell, Miro Heiskanen and Anton Khudobin for the Stars.

Khudobin should have hit 20-25 wins. He lost 7 games giving up only 2 goals or less and another 6 allowing 3 goals. Our offense didn’t help him out at all a lot of nights.

Heiskanen as a teenager being able to put up the points he did on a horrible scoring team, and not much 1st PP unit time, as well as play as much as he did was amazing.

Lindell easily played #1 d-man when Klingberg was out and was the better d-man a lot of nights when he was playing.

I'm going to nominate Valtteri Filppula. 72 games 17 goals fourth liner. Seriously I was expecting him not to get a contract last summer.

This is a good choice, though he had kind of a weird season. Put up 16 points in his first 23 games there and then got the other 15 over the next 49.

Agree with most all of this. Khudobin let in a lot of Lehtonenesque goals in those 2ga or less games though, was really deflating. Khudobin also sported an over 3.0gaa early in the season, so I'm impressed he improved so much as the year went on. He definitely had a good season.

Danny Dekeyser had 20 points in 52 games, while somehow being +2 on a pretty bad Detroit team.

Phil Kessel had 10 GWG amongst his 27 goals and John Klingberg had 5 GWG out of his 10 goals, pretty slick.

Definitely Jake Guentzel for me.
- 40 goals 36 assists for 76 points.

- Tied for 3rd in Even Strength goals with Ovechkin at 33.

Not going to read through 7 pages so I don't know if he's been mentioned but Landeskog falls into this category.

Career high in points (75), goals (34), assists (41). Over point per game 75 points in 73 gp. 20 3rd period goals to lead the league in that category. Tied for 2nd in game winning goals. And is the Avs most reliable defensive forward.

Obviously for the Sharks you have Meier and Hertl that have been mentioned. I’m going to mention a few more that haven’t been. Evander Kane had 30 goals and 56 points in 75 games while also being the Sharks heart and spark plug for most of those games. Logan Couture had 70 points in 81 games. Erik Karlsson had 45 points in 53 (despite his bad start offensively). Nyquist had a career year but also had 11 points in 19 games with the Sharks.

Honestly there were so many Sharks players that had a great year offensively. Our goalies just left us out to dry most games.

It'll probably surprise people to learn that Tyler Johnson led TB in 5v5 goals with 27, and ranked 14th league-wide.

Erik Cernak came up from the Syracuse Crunch and is now unquestionably TB's #3 defenseman, and has been a bigger reason than most realize for our success.

Anthony Cirelli is one of the best 3Cs in the entire league, as a rookie (technically), and finished the year with 19 goals and 20 assists with his most common linemates being Alex Killorn and Matthieu Joseph.

Cedric Paquette has always been good in spurts, but he was among our most consistently good players this year, and finished 1st among centers in hits, 6th among all players, while also scoring 13 goals on the 4th line.

These are the lesser known reasons why TB won 62 games this year.

Ryan Johansen, for all the guff he gets for "not being a real no.1" he hovered at 1PPG for the majority of the season despite Arvidsson and Forsberg both missing some major time.

Put up a career high in assists and had the most points of his career since '14-15.

Pretty sure the winner of this award is Marcus Pettersson.

Third in scoring among rookie defenseman. Lead all rookie defenseman in +/-.

Was also an iron man that played in 84 games.

It was so quiet he played for my favorite team and I didn’t even realize any of this until just a little while ago by dumb luck when looking at another player’s stats.

calm down, he fell down at the end of the season, he was overhyped a lot.

Dahlin and Miro are more impressive this year, also Svech had a better end of year.

calm down Vancouver.

Vladimir Tarasenko after a very underwhelming start to the season kicked up a notch in the new year.
Finished with 68 points in 76 games.
One of two players to score at least 30 goals in each season in the last 5 years.
The other being Alex Ovechkin.

I came away impressed with Brandon Tanev. This guy was undrafted, and even when he made it to the big show, I never thought he could be anything more than a spark plug. Well, he is still a spark plug, but he also improved his offense by quite a bit, scoring 14 goals in a bottom sixe role.

I don't know if mentioned yet, but Mattias Ekholm had a great season, setting new career highs in goals and assists, while being a rock defensively. His production drowned a bit towards the end, so I am eager to see what he can do in the playoffs.

My votes for Bo Horvat. Lead the league in faceoffs taken, put up 60+ points with terrible winger support, and just looks ready for the Captaincy in Vancouver. He’s overshadowed by Pettersson, Boeser, and Hughes but still continues to prove he’s the driving force behind this team and gets better every year
