if you really want to seem impressive, just do it on one device normally, then type the answer in on the second device and get 1/1 every time. turn on hard mode for the asterisk to REALLY show them you mean business

Then admit that you're just messing around them them. You already knew the answer because you're the guy who picks the word for the day.

Ok, I'm back on "Koivu" being a better starting point than "Oates" in Gordle. Weird reason. You'd think you want the vowels and the more common letters, but no. The "v" in "Koivu" gives you a very good indicator right off the bat as to whether the player is Russian or not. "Leivo" might be even better than "Koivu" (more common vowels, still get the "v"). I seem to do better in games where I determine if "v" is in the name sooner rather than later.

The problem with trying to figure out so many foreign names is they use letter arrangements that my English-biased brain refuses to parse, even if a name that should be well-known to me (Skjei, for example).

I think there was one a couple days ago that screwed me up because of that.

Oh, and I'm playing Warm Snow on Steam. Fun little rougelike.

Playing through the "Uncharted"-series, I'm on the fourth one right now. Crazy how big the difference is between the third and fourth in graphics. Fun games.

Got today's Gordle in two. Instead of using Oates, I start with Koivu. Then I use today's answer to get the remaining vowels and other useful pieces.

I'm sorry but this Wordle is a silly game. (NOT TODAY'S WORD, I got some backlog)

i think bloodborne is still my favorite in the soulsborne ring series, and maybe my favorite game ever

definitely in the top 3
Yeah, I hear that from a lot of people. And it has a ton going for it. I think the usage of the guns is fun as opposed to shields. Rewarding offensive gameplay instead hiding behind the shield. Great atmosphere. The lore is fun when you look into it as figured out by the people that read every item. And the trick weapons are really great. It'd be nice if they did more of that. Some cool bosses as always.

I had a few minor quibbles with it. I felt some of the more cosmic elements, even though they aren't around a ton, felt more out of place in this world. But that's something they seem to like too draw from in these games. Again, this comes with these types of games to an extent, but I felt like many of the bosses, the battle felt at little samey and you could boil it down to just get behind them, and then run away or dodge. Sometimes it felt like there should have been more clever ways to use the gun or trick weapons in those. The trick weapons are great, but it certainly seemed to limit the pool to choose from. It felt a little odd that the saw cleaver is one I see used by many people and has some inherent benefits, and it's a weapon you can get immediately. I used a few different other weapons largely instead of it though. A little weird not having magic, but I typically only use that situationally in the other games, or if I'm doing a rare mage run. And finally, and most of this is just me getting better on my fourth souls game I've completed, it was easier than usual. Especially this time since I took the five minutes to learn the gun and visceral hits. Did pretty much all main game and dlc. Minimal farming and rarely stuck. Had the most first attempt boss victories I've ever had. Oh, and while I get what they were going for and like how it tied into the lore, the chalice dungeons or whatever fell pretty short for me.

Phenomenal game, but I think it's also one of those ones that I saw hyped for so long before I got to do it, that it would always fall short of that. I'll be playing it more going forward, so we'll see how that feeling ages.

For me, I don't know if I can pick a total favorite that I've played so far. I did really enjoy Elden Ring for the homages to the other games and the open world was great to explore. Anyway, I've got Dark Souls 2 and 3 in my collection, so they'll be next.

sekiro is probably also in my top 3, fantastic game if you haven't given that one a shot. one of the most satisfying combat systems once you master it. the lack of build diversity doesn't really bother me because it absolutely nails what it is trying to do

Yeah, it'll be on my list too. Just already have a combo pack that came with DS2 & 3. I started DS2 before Elden Ring came out.

I've given Sekiro several tries, but haven't been able to make a large dent in it. Last time I gave it a go, I managed to finally beat that f***er on the horse, and promptly rage quit after being gored by the next boss (that f***ing bull) several times.

The combat never really clicked for me. I couldn't get myself out of a 'Souls' mindset enough to really connect with it. I'll give it another go, someday. Hopefully I'll be able make some more headway.

Anyone play Factorio?
That's a game I've actively avoided buying, since I just know it'll consume me.

I downloaded Lord of the Rings Online today. It's free to play.

Considering I lost my job yesterday and won't be looking for a new one until I come back from a trip until July 5th, I know what I'm doing for most of the next month...
