Nothing will happend , Back when the Oilers kept drafting first overall , the NHL saw a problem in the draft where there wasnt any to begin with . By creating the Lottory they fixed something that didnt need to be fixed in the first place, just like a sore loser child who keep changing the rules along the way because he can't win. When they changed the rules and brought the lotory in the draft process the Oilers won anyway... So yes same on the NHL

So now what will happend if they win again ? The Oilers will draft , that's all . Edmonton are like any other NHL teams bound by the same rules.

They'll be like they were before, incredible young talented core that a GM would have to overthink to screw up... sad but true.

It's never too late to start doing it right.

It’s been a few years since they’ve won the 1st overall. They’re due. But they’ve lost their good luck charm in Hall. Now it’s NJ ‘s turn to stock up on 1st OA picks.

The problem isnt the 1st overall picks.

The problem is the management group think tank.

It's mostly old Oilers: Lowe, McTavish, Gretzky, Messier, Buchburger with guys like Howson and Keith Gretzky.

If this group did NOTHING since Tambellini, our roster would be:

Top 6:
RNH - McDavid - Draisaitl
Hall - Barzal - Eberle

Top 4 Dmen:
Klefbom - Petry
Nurse - Schultz

We might be neck and neck with Toronto in our rebuild. But the group got way too "clever" and just lost trade after trade, and botched negotiation after negotiation.

The problem isn't the players. The problem is clearly the management.

I honestly hope it happens again, just for the embarrassment it'd cause the team. Like, there's no way they should be this bad, for this long, with all the golden tickets they've been handed.

You'd think after a while it'd get to be humiliating. All those first overalls with nothing to show for it. Well, nothing outside of individual hardware, anyways. But certainly nothing banner-worthy.

The thing is, they still have most of these players and the results are still putrid.

Also, no guarantee they would've drafted Barzal.

Just as the last lottery ball rolls into place an asteroid about the size of a KIA Sorento strikes Rogers Arena. Oddly the damage is fairly localized to the owners box. Emergency workers cant distinguish between all the blood and red wine.

Minus Sekera and Lucic

If we dont have Barzal we have Kyle Connor. or Thomas Chabot.

Either way, we dont have the expansion-taken Griffin f'n Reinhart and have an impact player.

I still think we make the playoffs and make some big waves but if not, after what we’ve been through with Chia, I think most fans in the league agree we deserve this pick more than anybody.

To watch us have our team gutted by an imbecile, the hockey gods must surely respond.

What???

Most people think the Oilers deserve the pick LESS than anybody. I will go so far to say people will be personally offended if they get it again.

Would be kind of sad that they needed so many first overalls to turn it around. I mean 1 yea good for them, 2 ok nice luck, how many did they get not counting this one? 4? They should be leading the league right now. How many more first overall picks do you need?
