My favorite is XYZ team are Power Play merchants they're not as good as their record. ABC player on XYZ team sucks despite solid 5 on 5 production and no PP1 time, because the PP1 time context is not important.
Be more specific. This makes no sense unless we have a player's name and a team name.

to be fair that's probably not as wrong as it should be

like obviously it's a contradiction in terms of the actual player you get but GM careers tend to be pretty short and optics matter a lot
Definitely how bad managers who deserve their inevitable firing see things.

Bias, just makes me shake my head how fans claim bias for or against so often and seem to really believe that nonsense. Refs, Player Safety, Draft, etc. Good lord the tinfoil hats, scares me what they (especially considering likely most adults) might believe regarding the rest of the world outside of sports. Really is mind boggling to me, I assume it’s just a coping mechanism for when sports fans hate calls/decision against their team.
X team loses 5-0 but it was because they got goalied and the refs were biased against them, no it’s just because the team played
shitty that game and were beat

1)
"[list of players] are shit, they suck, I can't wait to get rid of their sorry loser asses."
vs.
"We'll send you [few, some, all of the players in that list] for a 1st" / "if you want [any one player in that list] it's going to cost you at least a 1st."

2)
"This league is too soft, there's no emotion, we need more hate in the game,."
vs.
[guy does something trivial that pisses off people] "No, not that shit, that's against the code."

3)
"We need to make it easier for teams to make trades, keep their own players, etc."
vs.
Every idea that makes the salary cap more inflexible - like "a player's salary should just be his cap hit" and "we need to shorten how long a player can sign a contract"
vs.
Franchise player tagging, or cap discounts for homegrown players, or other ideas that would put the players - who have already made it clear they don't like escrow and want to reduce it - in Escrow Hell.

4)
"We need more divisional games to build rivalries"
vs.
"JFC, why are we playing [divisional rival] again? We need fewer games against division teams, this is too much."

5) Why poor attendance is a bad thing, conditional on where a team is located. Mentioned above.

6)
"Divisional playoffs build rivalries, we need more of that"
vs.
"The current playoff system sucks, we need to go back to 1-8 in the conference."

And while not contradictions, there's also a long list of ideas that get offered every 3-4 months as if no one else has ever thought about them, or that they haven't been discussed [and 99% of the time picked apart because they were terrible the 1st time around, and the 15th time they're not any better].

The one game (and others) where the Oilers won 3-0, but were outshot 59-27 was one of only legitimate circumstances where this is untrue.

Too many times people have an excuse, when in reality it’s just too hard to have 82 extremely consistent efforts playing against the worlds elite players & coaches

Even that isn’t a legitimate circumstance, you can outshoot an opponent but shoot volume instead of quality. It’s just a bad look as hockey is too random to say you got “goalied”

player A superstar with multiple individual awards and no cups = tarnished legacy. Player B no awards but multiple cups but cups will not enhance his legacy. Same posters say player A will gladly sacrifice individual awards for a cup

The team should ditch Player 1, look at their fancy stat B scores, they aren't very good.
They should go after Player 2, their fancy stat A says they're amazing.

Ya stats can be twisted into your favour in anything, when only presenting a couple of stats out of a thousand.

And you believe that? Player will gladly give up millions or tens of millions on their contract in exchange for a cup. Only someone who is gullible or never had to work for a living would believe this
lol, their still multi millionaires, never played sports before eh.

So ,would a superstar with 100 million career earnings ,multiple awards and no cups trade places with a player with no awards, 20 million career earnings and 3 cups

No one trades cups you earn them,
What a stupid comparison 100 vs 20
Would a player take say 10% less pay for a cup absolutely they would.
Lots will say higher
No one will say 80% less, thats why it’s an extreme example.

When we both became free agents, we made a hockey decision," Kariya said at a news conference. "We both said, `Forget about the money, where's the place we want to play?' And Colorado jumped out at both of us immediately. So we made things work monetarily."

Kariya, who played with the Mighty Ducks last season, agreed to a $1.2 million contract, according to a source within the NHL who spoke Thursday to The Associated Press on condition of anonymity. He earned $10 million in his final season with Anaheim.
