Thread has been dead for awhile..

Bruins, South Shore, Hitmen are no surprise the top teams. Flyers are a surprise 4th. Islanders I thought would do better in 5th. BSB, PAL, CT and PJP round out. Three Premier kids were ranked by NHL Central Scouting last week.

Connecticut Yankees Premier played a two game non-league set with the Junior A New England Wolves out of NH this weekend. The Yanks won the first game badly though the shots were even and won the second game 4-3 despite being outshot 51-25

Yankees are the type of team that rarely outshoot opponents from what I've seen. Their shots of are greater quality and they don't just "throw pucks at the net" unlike teams like the Bruins and Hitmen.

Don't agree with the strategy but if it works it works.

Hearing and seeing a lot of movement between the bottom teams in the league. Should be interesting to see what the second half of the season holds. Does anyone know what the playoff format will be? Will the top 8 make it or will it be a play-in for the last spot? Possibly 6 teams and the top two get a bye?

2013-2014 USPHL Season

No thread about the league but a debate in the EHL thread, figured I'd make my own here.

Jr. Bruins have looked absolutely dominant, which I guess is no surprise considering what a great organization they've had the last few years. Brian Bowen (95) has been impressive all year.

Seeing the D1 commits just between Islanders HC, Jr Bruins, and Jersey Hitmen is all you need to see which of the leagues on the east coast is the biggest and best right now. Excited for the future of the USPHL

Keep in mind that the players that played more than one season usually had something like 2 pts 20 GP in their first season so the PPG averages about 1 for their entire AJHL career

So these stats can even be a little misleading in favor of the AJ if I'm not mistaken?

Have this game goin on FastHockey, glad they pushed up the time a bit! I'd love to see what the Hitmen could do in this one but I don't think they have anyone that can stop Eichel.

So with all this talk about what the USPHL's future will be, specifically next season and being a fan-driven league, what do you think the footprint will be? I know the Jr. Pirates are trying to play in Lewiston next year which seats around 3,500. Johnstown has also been thrown out there as a possible expansion market.

Boston Jr. Bruins - New England Sports Center (1,000)
South Shore Kings - Foxboro Sports Center (350)
New Jersey Hitmen - Capital One Bank Ice Vault (1,500)
Philadelphia Flyers - Flyers Skate Zone Voorhees (500)
Islanders Hockey Club - J. Thom Lawler Rink (2,500)
PAL Jr. Islanders - Nassau Coliseum (17,000)
Bay State Breakers - The Bog Ice Arena (350)
Portland Jr. Pirates - Androscoggin Bank Colisee (3,000)
Connecticut Yankees - Rink at Chelsea Piers (350)

Other Markets
Johnstown, PA - Cambria County War Memorial (4,000)
Danbury, CT - Danbury Ice Arena (2,500)
Trenton, NJ - Sun National Bank Center (8,000)

I wouldn't be surprised if the PAL Jr. Islanders decide to move to the Ferraro Bros Center on Long Island once that opens up. I think the bigger rink there is supposed to be able to seat a few hundred. Considering I saw a preseason OHL game in Mississauga at a 500 seat arena and it wasn't sold out I can't imagine much more than 3 would be needed for this.

I'm also curious about expansion in the next few years once the Kingsbridge Arena opens in the Bronx. I know for a fact they're looking at bringing a high-level junior team in, but I don't know if it would make sense for the USHL unless they go for that full-on expansion to the northeast people have been talking about forever. I feel like there will likely be a USPHL team playing there in a few years.

I wonder if any teams will move to the rink that Mark Messier is building by Yankee Stadium in the next year or two. I think it will be very good exposure for a team if they were able to get into that rink in the years coming.
