He only had 2 points, but both were well deserved. The filthy pass above, and a nice curl at the blue line to find Lagesson as the trailer on Malone's goal.I mean... 4 points in the elimination game of a playoff series... I'll take it.
^_^
I really hope that if Benson can't crack the top 6 next year, that we just leave him in Bakersfield instead.
more like he competes for it and earns it. No players should be gifted spots. Not anymore. One of the reasons our teams have failed beforeIf I was making the decision I’d leave him in Bakersfield but he’d be my first callup when injuries hit. The year after you find a spot for him in the top 9.
At some point you have to make room for younger players and let them compete amongst themselves, you can't have a roster of 25 players just to let some players compete for it.more like he competes for it and earns it. Did you not watch last year? We gave far too many guys shots because we had no other option. The average team used 29.2 players last year. We used 36. Average team used 6.7 rookies we had 9.At some point you have to make room for younger players and let them compete amongst themselves, you can't have a roster of 25 players just to let some players compete for it.
I still just can't get excited about Benson. Please, somebody convince me that he's more than a poor man's Sam Gagner.
WutHis passing + IQ + defence are all 10x better than Benson. They're completely different players.

I think you mistyped that. His passing + IQ + defence are all 10x better than Benson. They're completely different players.
Why poor man's? Now that you mention it, they're actually pretty similar players. Vision and passing are their strong suits, skating not so much. The biggest difference I see is thatI still just can't get excited about Benson. Please, somebody convince me that he's more than a poor man's Sam Gagner.
Pretty sure you meant GagnerHis passing + IQ + defence are all 10x better than Benson. They're completely different players.
Well if Sam Gagner's defense is 10x better than Benson then this thread is 5 pages deep about a nothing player so I sure hope not.
Typo. I meant Benson's passing, IQ, and defense are 10x better than Gagner's.
I'd be very happy if Benson ever becomes what Gagner was. I doubt it will happen though.
Gagner:
17 yo season OHL: 53 gp 35-83-118 (NHLe = 0.68 ppg)
18 yo season NHL: 79 gp 13-36-49 (0.62 ppg)
20 yo season NHL: 68 gp 15-26-41 (0.60 ppg)
Benson:
17 yo season WHL: 33 gp 11-31-42 (NHLe = 0.39 ppg)
18 yo season WHL: 58 gp 27-42-69 (NHLe = 0.37 ppg)
20 yo season AHL: 68 gp 15-51-66 (NHLe = 0.45 ppg)
This is funny.Typo. I meant Benson's passing, IQ, and defense are 10x better than Gagner's.
Gagner blossomed early and started to suck midway. Why are we comparing the two? Benson has only gotten better.I'd be very happy if Benson ever becomes what Gagner was. I doubt it will happen though.
