If Poile hadn't traded for Emelin, I actually think Markov could have been a great fit in Nashville, for the 3rd pairing and as a PP specialist. Plus he could play on one of the top 2 pairings if anyone from the top 4D was injured, and they already know Markov and PK have great chemistry. Nashville is in a great situation, cap-wise, for the next 2-3 years, so they could afford it. But I can't imagine both Emelin and Markov on the 3rd pairing, that's too much.

For some reason nhlnumbers.com has 25 players attributing to that 6.6M free cap space. We all know that a roster is max 23 players.

capfriendly.com has a 22 man roster with 9.1M in space.

The difference is McCarron (1.076M, which may be incorrect on nhlnumbers, as that might be his AAV, but not his caphit), Carr (0.725M) and Redmond (0.6125M)

Capfriendly: 9.162
nhlnumbers: 6.663 + 1.076 + 0.725 + 0.6125 = 9.0765

Pretty close if you ask me.

NHLNUMBERS actually 9m...has to be Markov wanting extra year holding it up. There's nothing else. Unless Habs still in trade talks for that star center...which I doubt, has to be Markov's 2nd year

Not at the salary he is asking, they don't need him. They don't need another PMD or PP specialist. They went to get Emelin because on the contrary what they needed was a hard hitting guy at the back.

Radulov knew he wanted to be part of Dallas hence the reason why he used MTL to raise his stock. Emelin knew when the protected lists were released he was the guy that was getting picked up. Markov on the other hand is consorting with the enemy and should be gone.
