In the summer I could try to trade for Jack Eichel. We just don’t have a star Center for decades. Someone close to Auston Matthews Elias Peterson Leon Drasatl. We just don’t have that. Only if Eric Staal was 15 years younger.

Nick Suzuki
Jonathan Drouin
Ben Chiarot
1st round pick

For

Jack Eichel
Casey Mitelstadt
3rd round pick

Top 3 centres
Eichel
Kotkaniemi
Danault
Much better to go after Couturier he is just like ROR,if Philly does not want to pay him or if he does not like the direction the team is headed,he will be traded if he does not sign an extension....Flyers will not let him walk for nothing.

Domi is a mental midget and is just as likely to take an Andrew Shaw-level stupid penalty as he is doing anything productive...and I'd still rather him than Johnny Floaty...low bar...
Exactly . I can’t stand Drouin. Domi at least has a pulse. I take him before Drouin anyday of the week

Yeah, that was kind of the point I was trying to make when I suggested Drouin for Domi. I don’t like Domi either and at least from observations and news, am not a fan of his pouting and mailing it in when things don’t go his way, but like you said... low bar.

At this point, I’d rather minus Drouin’s $5.5 and divide it among Tatar and Danault (on top of what they make now) and keep those two.

I don't think we need to unload Drouin to retain Tatar and Danault. It's about Lehkonen, Armia, Byron and how much of a bridge KK gets.

Losing Lehkonen will hurt, imo...the kid may not have a lot (or much) offensive talent, but he's our best forechecker and he's got a motor like Gallagher; never gives anything less than 100%...Armia is mercurial, but he also is a good 3rd liner that can bust open a game when he finds that hidden extra gear (once every 10 games, I know, but it's there)...Byron needs to go, no doubt...as does Johnny Floaty; for the 2 or 3 nice passes he makes a game, he's checked out or just plain useless for 90% of it...he's had more than enough chances to finally pull his head outta his arse and play with a drive & determination to match his natural talent; it ain't gonna happen, folks...he is who he's been since junior and that's not gonna change now that he has his "wrist injury" to blame everything on for his next 10 years of floating & disinterested play...pay Seattle to take him in the Expansion Draft...Hell, pay them enough and they may even take Byron with them for "leadership"...time to actually start fixing what's broken with this Franchise...starting with ditching Johnny Floaty and the moron who traded for him...

Lehkonen and Byron offer team speed at the bottom half of the line-up. I think we are missing speed at the top off half which is why we see Lehkonen and Byron there sometimes. I think Poehling can replace one of them. If we are looking for cap space, Lehkonen and Byron are the ones we need to consider letting go. Not because they suck but because they are not that hard to replace

Armia to me is a keeper. Big boy and protects the puck well. Good middle of the line-up player to have. Only issue is we are loaded at RW now

Tatar I would like to stay if the AAV/term is right. We have more RW vs LW so I believe we need him more than some realize

What KK get for a bridge? Not sure. Tricky with valuable RFA's during the flat cap seasons.

Drouin is fine to keep. Just frustrating cause he has more to offer but is not consistent. He's one of our best play makers but not many will even want to talk about that. I don't think management is looking to move him to be honest. Waste of energy to try

No problem taking domi back for JD. We know Domi can play and produce. Not sure he would want to come back.

They have to find a way to salvage JD via a trade.

Sorry but no way I want Domi back here now. In his own way, he's as much of damaged-goods liability as JD is at the moment.

He had a good first year so we know it’s possible. I’d rather him than JD but they should try for someone else.

Huh? We could have had Ghost for free just weeks ago. No way we're giving up our best passer for a waiver guy.
The way Drouin is playing, he will be a waiver guy soon too. 5.5 million for an offensive specialist on pace for less than 4 goals in a regular season.

Wouldn't be surprised with something like Drouin for Ghostisbehere+

I think we'll have to give the + though, given Drouin has the higher cap hit.

What would be incredible is if we could pull off the following:

To PHI: Drouin @5.5AAV
To MTL: Ghost @4.5AAV

To NHL team A: Ghost @4.5AAV
To MTL: Useless Player A @3.5AAV

To NHL team B: Useless Player A @3.5AAV
To MTL: Useless Player B @2.5AAV

etc... until we bury to player in the AHL with no cap hit...

Ya I don't see why we have to give up the +. Ghost is a liability. Drouin is just incredibly inconsistent.

Domi has a pulse? Havent seen that for half the season last year. Definitely didn't see it when he got outplayed by 4th liners in the playoff while Drouin was tied for 1st in points for the time. And Columbus fans certainly haven't seen it this year either.

Exactly what I was thinking. We've absolutely got to be all over this. We need goal scorer badly. We would be a fine team if anybody could score goals really (Outside of Toffoli who's awesome at it).

Domi? Are people serious? He couldn’t bother putting an effort during the play-ins and sulked because he was outplayed by two actual centres that are younger. Now he’s sulking again. Let him be some other team’s problem.

The only thing I can say in Domi's defense is that he's a far more entertaining problem to have than Johnny Floaty...with Domi, it's at least always something new-ish and ridiculously maddening; with Floaty, it's always the same old problems...
