Domi? Are people serious? He couldn’t bother putting an effort during the play-ins and sulked because he was outplayed by two actual centres that are younger. Now he’s sulking again. Let him be some other team’s problem.

Nah, not serious... from me anyways. I just proposed it as a hypothetical for Drouin.

a few proposals that would both work well for us and piss off a few polarized groups... and fully assumes/requires MB to be gone and replaced with a GM looking to build a winner

To NJ
Weber, Kulak

To Mtl
PK, 2022 2nd

full circle for the two main pieces. PK slots in well behind Petry, and if his recovery and positive play this year continues, we leverage his love of the city to re-up for 2-3 years in the 3-5M$ range (based on his play). Top-4 with Petry/PK on the right side and Fleury/Brook depth UFA's rounding it out would be a good situation. NJ adds veteran presence with a rapidly declining salary that should make owners happy.

To Pitt
Drouin

To Mtl
Zucker

Drouin is taylor made to be a complimentary player next to an elite C... might just get closer to his offensive ceiling in that kind of situation. Zucker has a lower ceiling but is useful beyond the offensive output and can slot in to any line... maybe we get Pitt to retain 500K or throw in a later pick given the age/talent differential, but i'm happy with the move as is.

re-sitn Danault, Perry, Merrill
let armia, tatar walk

Zucker - Danault - Gallagher
Poehling - Suzuki - Toffoli
Caufield - JKO - Anderson
Lehkonen - Evans - Perry
Byron

Edmundson - Petry
Romanov - PK
Chiarot - Merrill
Fleury/Brook

Price
Primeau
(assumes Allen gets picked up by Seattle)

sign a veteran middle-6 winger on a 1-year deal from the late UFA pickings (like a Granlund/Hoffman)
if there is cap space left, let Caufield or Poehling start in Laval instead.

that's at worst the same caliber roster as this year (borderline playoff), and to whatever degree the young guys progress, incrementally better.

At a minimum this offseason we need to get rid of Chiarot and Weber and replace them with two legitimate top-4 D who can skate well and play half decent offense

Good luck. Dumping Weber contract and finding top D on market are both huge tasks. Gotta hope the draft picks develop.

Chiarot is an expansion choice candidate however Allen would be most likely. Could also be used in a package with the 2021 1st round pick.

Weber, i’m certain we could move after next year due to his low actual salary, but if they could somehow be more proactive and trade him to a cheap team this summer that’s almost $8M more to play with

Get some f***ing dmen that can move the puck for crying out loud.

Weber for OEL where Arizona saves a shit ton of money and they may be dumb enough to buy that leadership nonsense
Go after Girard or Toews because Avs are screwed in the expansion draft
Drouin for Schmidt because he's underperforming in Vancouver and his cap hit is high for what he brings

f***ing do something

After what Cassidy said publicly about DeBrusk wonder if a rarity of rarities could potentially happen in the off-season...Bruins / Habs deal.

Drouin for DeBrusk

Trade OEL for Weber if you can. OEL may be in decline but he's way better and younger than Weber, plus he's on the left side. Their contracts run out at around the same time but one guy will be 35 and the other 41.

Raty has 10 less points than KK had in his draft year in Liiga, while being much older and Kakko is still much worse than KK to this day.

If Eichel is really available this summer, we have to make sure we present the best offer. We dont have a real center since Damphousse and Turgeon ,no wonder our team is mediocre. You dont win in this league without a real center. You know one who can finish in the top 30 scorers in the league. When is the last time we had a player who finished in the top 10 scorers?

At least Domi had a pulse.

In a vacuum no, would prefer someone else. But over JD? Easy decision.

I agree. For Eichel everything is on the table.

Look at our division this year with McDavid and Matthews. Having a #1 C of that talent changes a team.

Drouin has most probably mental health issue so you might want to compare both when they were healthy, like last year playoffs... You would still take Domi ?

I'm all for trading Drouin, but not for Domi or other overrated and overpaid players. Anyways, this team should try to rebuild instead of patching holes.

Allen should be protected and not Price!!! Seattle will never take Price, no risk of losing him and if they take him, oh well!!

They’re both flawed players. If I had my druthers, I’d want neither.

NYR and LAK can make better offers than Montreal and don't need to send as much salary the other way. Plus, like with the ROR rumours, Montreal probably can't make a comparable offer, they need to make a clearly better offer.
And they're not in the same division (pre-pandemic).
