- assume the kracken take Allen... which seems quite probable given his very reasonable contract and solid play this year. send them a later pick in a deal if needed to confirm that.

- trade Drouin, Chiarot, 1st, harris to Anaheim for Fowler, Comtois... Anh swaps Fowlers deal for Drouins, saving $ and term. 1st/harris/chiarot offset Comtois' value & fact that fowler is at least of some useful purpose.

- re-sign Danault, 4 yrs 5.75M... cross fingers that his desire to stay in Quebec, assurance that he'll keep getting prime minutes and the overall market uncertainty is enough to sway him to sign for less than he might just get if he goes to the highest bidder (habs fan criticism aside, reality is that he is the top 1-2 C's available this summer and at least 1-2 teams will be willing to pay him that way).

- tatar, armia walk

- sign Granlund, 2yrs/4m$per

Toffoli - Danault - Gallagher
Comtois - Suzuki - Caufield
Granlund - JKO - Anderson
Lehkonen - Evans - Byron
Poehling/Ylonen/Teasdale

Fowler - Weber
Edmundson - Petry
Romanov - Fleury
Kulak/Leskinen

Price
Primeau

that roster probably makes the playoffs, maybe even makes noise if Price is on point and young forwards/Romanov are progressing well.

but the key is 2022-23... summer 2022, moving Weber should be easy (Preds if he's teetering on retirement level play, any non cap spending team if he's still playing decent 4-5 level... his $ owed being so low), and when you add the cap increases likely (assuming covid is under control by then), that would put us in a great situation to be seriously ready to make a move into contention.

The roster above, with Weber's 8M$ off the cap books, the cap going up even a bit, our prospect pool ready to integrate Poehling/Brook/Guhle/Ylonen/Norlinder/?, having cap room to address any holes the graduated prospects don't address, and a forward group that would be deep and talented, with JKO/Suzuki/Comtois hitting their prime, Caufield pushing and anderson/Granlund/Gallagher/Toffoli providing quality veteran depth... that's the making for a contender imo, provided either Price or Primeau can give us mid tier goaltending...

So this summer is key... No stupid contracts added, no quality young assets/prospects traded for wishful thinking, and 1-2 astute moves to address organization roster holes (as Comtois/Fowler would, quite well)... we could be ready for a run of contending before Price's play makes his deal a complete anchor.

Fowler’s contract stipulates he can choose 4-teams he’s willing to be dealt to, what are the chances an American kid who spent his entire career in sunny peaceful hockey surrounds of Cali will waive for Mtl?

That’s assuming Bob Murray who likes to keep his drafted Dman even is willing to deal Fowler

you are 100% right... he might prefer to choose lifestyle over playing meaningful hockey in a hockey-mad market... and if so, him rejecting the move would be a blessing for us. There are other ways we could move Drouin's money and address our top-4 d needs... and if we are going to build a contender, we don't want any core pieces to be the personality types who prefer lifestyle over winning.

as for Murray... the over 20M$ in real dollars saving that moving Fowler for Drouin would create would be an easy sell to his ownership (and might help him keep his job a bit longer). He'd have a great shot at getting Harris to sign (lifestyle + opportunity for NHL role quickly), and that deal allows him to make his owners happy while still buffering a decent roster (chiarot/Drouin are 2 viable NHL players) while adding a prospect (harris) that could be coming to his own as their roster is ready to start pushing for playoffs again in 2-3 years.

Drouin + 1st + top defense prospect to Seattle for a 2 second round and they agree to take Drouin
you guys think Seattle would do this or would we need to offer them more to take Drouin ?

You are blinded by your hate for Drouin if you think loosing a first round pick and good prospect is worth loosing him instead of another player.

I'm not blind or hate Drouin, but if you look at the hole picture and we trade Drouin this would free up alot of capspace to sign other players in my books.

A lot of teams got burned last time around for doing this with Vegas... it would be a huge mistake to give anything away like that.

Also, why the Kraken ? There's a bunch of teams that would gladly take Drouin if the offer is a 1st AND a top prospect. It's mismanaging assets at it's worst.

We're trading Drouin to Seattle and they're also selecting him in the draft?

He refused 5.5m
close to 6m for a third center is atrocious and just shows how bad we will anchor ourselves for multiple years

I'd let Danault walk for anything more than 4.5-5 million AAV. Could be rough, but Suzuki and Kotkaniemi both have way more offensive ability and are really starting to improve defensively. Also, Poeling has been really good in the minors from what I see.

Suzuki
Kotkaniemi
Poeling
Evans

Spend money on a PMD. f*** it.

Pretty sure if you left Drouin unprotected Kraken take him, sure 5.5 is allot, but only 2 years left and they should not have any cap problems to start.

Huberdeau would love to wear Bleu Blanc Rouge, like so many other home boys...until time to sign comes:

Jonathan Huberdeau se voit avec le CH - TVA Sports

Get ready for the media dreaming about Huby for the next 2 years.

Nah, the worst part is when the fans and media keep going on about the guy as he hits early 30s, then mid 30s etc. Its pathetic. If the guy ( player Q ) had wanted to play here he could gave done it. But he didn't. You know, like Lecavalier ( as is his right, no issue).

Huberdeau and Drouin have the same type of contract, convince Florida that Drouin will explose with Barkov and make the trade :D

Serious question, knowing Domi has worn out his welcome in Columbus, would you swap Drouin for Domi, straight up?

I think I would.
Not worth the mediatic shit storm it would create. I prefer trading him for a 2nd and be done.
