alot of overpayment for players

can we stop making rosters with duchene , hes not even signed

They would need to trade for a Domi type but at LD — someone undervalued who has lost favor but who has potential.

Oh man Timo would be great with Domi. If you could somehow squeeze Duchene in there, damn.

Sure, that wasn't my point. You identified concern that he'd struggle in the playoffs. My response was that I find that an odd assessment for reasons I explained.

That he may struggle with the transition to the NHL as a whole, like Drouin has, I already acknowledged and pointed out in the very first reply.

I just provided an example of a player who dominated the CHL but has struggled to do the same at the NHL level. I'm not saying Suzuki turns into Drouin, I'm saying Suzuki has a lot of development work to do. He has never played against men and when I watched him closely in the memorial cup, he is the type to shy away from physical contact. I'm not overly concerned about it but also not going to ignore it.

Suzuki and a 3rd for Meier. I'd make this move and I understand the risks. But I also understand the difficulty with finding a top 6F like Meier on the LW side as well. At some point, the Habs need to figure out our smurf problem

Go back and read the exchange, you are again completely missing the point.

What would you prefer?

1) Timo signed to a offer sheet for 7 years at $6M. Compensation is 2020, 1st, 2nd, 3rd where the 1st is not lottery protected.
or
2) We tell the Sharks before we sign the deal and give them a chance to negotiate a trade. Suzuki and a 3rd for Meier

I’d do the offersheet. Suzuki will be a cheap point producer for a team close to the cap.

IMO Philly is 100% moving Ghost by the draft, we should bite on it.

they have a legit top 4, which Ghost doesn't have a role in, and I doubt he wants to take a bottom pairing role. He has pride, he hit 60p+ and he wont play on the last pair with his talents for a long time.

Now, the cost is probably Shaw + prospect + pick.

Shaw + Ikonen + 2nd or a conditional 2020 first

I'm thinking I pick the same cause I'm willing to take my chances our 2020 1st will not be a lottery pick. We need to have another disaster of injuries to key players for us to finish in the bottom 5 or bottom 10 IMO.

Honestly, I rather Leddy than Gostisbehere.

Nah, we both made points and I believe I understand where you stand. It's all good. I think you are more focused on saying I don't understand now than clarifying it. It's not worth it for either of us at this stage.

id take both

OK... I'm listening and you got my attention.

- Tatar for Leddy
- Mete and Shaw for Ghost and some kind of add?

If we add Gostisbehere and Leddy, I think we need to use Mete in one of the deals. I do not support having too many undersized D man who don't play physical. I can tolerate one of them.

Wonder how much Vegas is willing to pay to trade Clarkson's last year?

They got a first & 2nd to take him for 3yrs, are they desperate enough now to pay up a 1st & 3rd?

I'd heavily look at that... Use our space this season to "buy" the 17th & 48th picks.

Still have remaining space + Drouin/Byron to look at LD solutions, or go fwd as is + having LTIR space & extra assets for in-season moves

Indeed, hard to clarify any better than I have, can't help it if choose to respond without reading.

Next time, spend just as much energy on clarifying your opinion vs telling someone they don't understand. That typically turns into a post war wasting more energy by the two of us ;)

or Byron even danault
I dont see Mete as a top4 anyways

I think we need Danault for the rest of his contract while we get to see the development from Kotkaniemi and Poehling. If one of them stalls, we need Danault as our future 3C. Lets keep our centers please. It's been a long time to get to this point so lets not be quick to trade any of them.

Mete? I am not sure if he has reached his ceiling or if he has room to grow. Just not sure.

Byron, Tatar, Shaw. I'd be hesitant to trade any of them but if we get fair value, I would consider trading them if we have a fair trade to both sides.

Montreal needs one LHD to carry the puck and help run the PP and play with Weber and another LHD who can kill penalties and be physical to play with Petry you need to upgrade from Mete if you are trying to win right now.

I did, and I made a point of my own from it? It's all good. I understand what you said

So, no need to clarify then.... You have a very odd approach to posting. Again, no need to quote or reply to someone if what you have to say has nothing to do with what they have posted.

Carry on

indeed , LD is a huge issue right now

Huge issue in which sense? Seems they are counting on Mete and Kulak and need 1 more to fill the roster.
Benn will probably leave, understood, but he played his role fine down the stretch. Great if MTL could get a true proven #1 in a reasonable scenario, but at the very worst case scenario, Alzner is still alive. Possible that even Olaffson,Leskinen or Skleninka could earn a spot in the interim. Even Ouilette was not total garbage

It took the Habs all season to figure things out and 2 of the LD had to spend time in the A to improve their game, and they did. Habs actually were pretty solid at the end,too little too late, but at least they got the core and style to play with what they got. They failed last season due to a pathetic 4th line that was a shambles all season long and a putrid PP, that was in the top 5 in the last 10-15 games of the season as well as their FO %
