Yes. Even if it's a DeAngelo buyout. Get rid of Zucc for 1.76M. Why would the Rangers do that, though?
Rangers have a lot of young guys on elcs, Zucc is a good veteran/has a history with the team, and they remove a troubling player in the process. You’re right straight up probably isn’t realistic, what do you think we would have to add?

Since Zuccarello wouldn’t waive for most teams, let’s say he would for the Rangers. Would anyone take a chance on a swap of him for DeAngelo? DeAngelo does sound like a pos but getting out of the Zucc deal (it’s really just the NMC for me) would be ideal before the expansion draft (especially if we do go 4-4).
if Guerin is truly trying to change the locker room culture in Minnesota. I doubt he wants to piss it all down his leg to grab DeAngelo. There is a reason no GM claimed him on waivers.

If we could trade Zucc, then protect 7-3 then why not lol.

If it’s even an option, you do it after the season and then buy him out. He never sets foot in the locker room. His buyout is insanely cheap, the Rangers will probably just do it themselves when they can.

what would we have to give to get DeAngelo? Rangers are already chalk full on top 6 wingers. I can't see them being thrilled to take back Zucc with his age and cap hit. The Wild are in as much need of Draft picks so trading those away don't help.

I was under the assumption it was Zucc only. Didn’t put much thought into the Rangers side of things. Absolutely wouldn’t add value to it from our end.

Here we go again.

Look...Zuccarello isn't going anywhere, and he won't waive his clause. He would not return to the Rangers anyway, bridges burnt there. One of the reasons he settled down in MN was to find some peace and quiet...tired of NYC.

So sad that some fans have so little knowledge about Mats as a player. He is one of the best forwards on this team, when he returns he can help players like Fiala and Kaprizov to become more effective. And as a power play specialist he can certainly help the team there as well.

You really don't want to lose him if you want to win games, give Mats a chance as a healthy player.

I thought he was sitting around getting drunk?

Sadly, Zuccarello is likely one of our better forwards, even though he has been a disappointment so far. We'll see what happens when he gets back to playing later this season, but I am not holding my breath. By the time he does come back for the start of the 21-22 season, hopefully completely healed and in good shape, he will be 34 yo. His first two years will have been flat out bad. We will have to hope that he is able to somehow defeat Time and be effective as a second liner from the ages 34-36, instead of the bottom six player he likely will be.

tbf in his last two years he has a M-NTC and not a NMC so the Wild could ship him out.

got in a fist fight with the goalie I heard was the last straw. Plus has a burner account and harasses fans on it.
I read he got in a verbal fight with the goalie then Kreider chimed in and then he smarted off to him also and kreider punched him in the face.

DeAngelo's buy-out in the offseason is peanuts, NYR has 0 incentive to take anything back for him aside from an expiring contract. We do have some of those, but considering the direction Guerin went in the offseason I can't see a DeAngelo acquisition happening. Kaprizov is a better fit for Zuccarello than anyone he played with last year and likewise for Kaprizov this year in my eyes(and I say that as someone on board with buying out Zuccarello to protect Greenway if it comes to that this offseason), so hopefully we see them paired up, Bonino would be the logical center between the 2 given he hasn't meshed anywhere yet either. Knowing how Evason's ran the bench though we'll probably see Parise - Bjugstad - Fiala, Johansson - Rask - Kaprizov, Greenway - Ek - Foligno, Hartman - Bonino - Zuccarello if we ever get fully healthy.

I feel like the incentive to get rid of him is to get him out of their locker room, since it's become a bad situation. So, that is more than zero incentive. That said, they're still not going to take on a big, long term contract, I agree, which means not taking on Zuccarello or Parise. Of course, if they don't want to do that, they'll probably have to part with a pick to make someone do them that favor. I know we've got defenders injured, but I don't see DeAngelo being a match with us, especially given Guerin's preference to try to correct the culture of our locker room.

Rumor that the Sens are shopping Stepan. He's overpaid but he's a UFA this year and he's a center. I'd do it.

Stepan would be a decent target as long as one of Rask, Foligno, or Zuccarello was going the other way in the deal.
