Sweet, even more SHG opportunities against!

Bruins this past season were 12th best for short handed goals against at 6 total. The two years before that it was a bit of a problem for sure, giving up 10 and 14...but largely seemed like they solved that problem this year.

However, I remember the power play before Cassidy and will definitely take giving up a couple extra short handed goals a year for sure...though it was kind of nice to have that 2 minute opportunity + commercial breaks to go grab a beer from the fridge and take care of anything that needed to be done around the house.

Expected but still disappointing. He gave us everything he had and more, if there are fans in the stands when he plays in Boston for the first time he will get the ovation he deserves.

He absolutely deserves to get paid and I hope he does. Terrific player and person and hope to see him succeed against all of the other 30 teams. :)

Watch Pittsburgh.

If there is one GM that can and will dump cap space its Rutherford.

I would be worried that a team like Colorado or Vegas would snag him. I was hoping it was going to be a lower ranked team like the Wings.

But any money a team like Colorado spends on him is less they have for other free agents (AP), etc.

I love Krug. Great offensive and PP specialist. 6.5 is a good number for him.

Unfortunately a team is going to WAYYY overpay him. Ill be interested seeing him play 1st line and PK minutes trying to shut down the McDavids, Kucherovs, Pastrnaks of the game. Being paid 7-8 million thats what will he expected of him.

I hope they're ready for the frequent puck bobbles at the blue line leading to a breakaway aka the "Krug Special"/

The Bruins set the payroll benchmark for high end players years ago with Pasty/Marchy/Bergy/DK.
I knew all along that Krug would walk and I do not mind.
He is not worth more than 6.5 million on this team.
I think he signs with the NYI.
He is the type of player they are lacking.

He is a risk/reward type of player, but damn good at what he does, mistakes notwithstanding. More than that, I hope these teams are ready for a guy in 3 or 4 years that has lost a step or two (and he isn't that speedy now) and is beat to shit from all the abuse he takes making 7-8 million per for the next 3-4 years. That sounds like a them problem

That’s a fair offer, but he can obviously get more. I wish him the best. I think any team willing to pay him more than that over that term or longer is crazy.

I have no issue of him leaving to Detroit.
Live Krug and he will be a bruins in my heart when we see him.

Last time we had his type of leadership was with ference. Krug is definitely assistant capitano quality.

What's the difference between the offensively minded Krug vs a offensively minded forward?

The offensively-minded forward has a chance in catching a penalty killer down the ice that slips by.

Those stubby legs are getting heavy. Imagine 4, 5, 6, 7 years from now.

Remember to think in terms of percentage of cap since the cap has increased since those deals were signed.

Krug is going to get a lot of fan backlash if he's going to be paid as much as I think he's going to get. Do teams think they're going to play him on the top pair for 25 minutes a night? I'm glad he's setting up his family financial for life though, good on him.

Good on Sweeney for that last offer, though it's to rich for my blood it's a fair deal
Hopefully there's a bidding war for his rights

Yes, I really thought they had given him a lowball offer based on how it sounded. If that is what Krug turned down, which is better than I would have offered him in term, then his agent must have had some really rich feelers put out, at least 7x7 and probably more in AAV. Also, if that is what he turned down, then obviously he didn't want to stay that badly whatever he said to the media. Well, bye.

Love the guy. Has tons of heart. Great vision and passer. But a 6 year contract is going to age like milk on a hot summer day. He's undersized and already slowing down in a league that's speeding up. And struggles mightily in his own zone. Again, he has some awesome traits and skills but some major drawbacks. Wish him the best though. He's earned a nice pay day.

Hard to argue that he hasn't done that already- 21 million in salary the past four years, 5 mil for the two before that. They are doing alright

If bruins offer was truly 6.5M x6 Years and ask is 7.5x7 years, than I still think this gets done. Both sides want Boston. With covid a Guaranteed signing bonus money upfront for 2020-2021, 2021-22 and it’s pretty close. He still gets paid in year 7 if he is a hockey player. At this point it’s possible we don’t even play 82 game schedule next season... and likely that revenue is extremely low for all of it. If I was sweeney I’d authorize krug agent to talk to Detroit based on a potential swap of rights, as long as krug remains open to bruins. Allow krug to test out the waters with the one of a few teams that can afford him and that he’d go to. If Detroit will offer him a 8.5x7 than so be it ... if he sees there only will to go 7x7 or ball park to bruins than maybe he changes his tune.

If that was the offer and Krug turned it down, why would it get done at this point? Because clearly Krug's camp has reason to believe they can do better and significantly so, or why let it come to this? They know what we don't, through whatever backchannels there are in the agent world.
