Krug makes a couple mistakes and his is now is in Kampfer territory. Not easy playing with partners you are not used too and trying to push the pace. I think he assumed Lauzon was going be open for the one pass but he hung back. It happens they both misread it but how many times a game does Miller do that, usually more I would say. Krug has 11 pts in 14 games, Grizz who I like a lot has 8 pts in 23 games. All he does is play he guts out every game and still gets shiite on.

yeah, he totally got a gift assist for preventing the clearing, carrying the puck across the zone, and firing the pass to an open Pastrnak setting up the cross ice movement that ended with Marchand on the door step with an open net

So did Barzal in the same game. Barzal shot it at Rask and Tuukka saved it the rebound was put in. To me that is not an assist after it hits a Bruin player. Krug did the same thing but made a great play catching it in his hand and quickly shooting it, the Isles guy had it go off him to Pasta. Without Krug saving it and moving it quick there is not goal. I will take the gambling over the mistakes as it pays off positively way way more then not. Five pts in his last 4 games, without him we are not getting goals or points. Considering in that stretch the team put up 9 goals and he was in on 5 of them

Two years ago I thought Krug was one of our best defenseman but in the last year it feels like he’s gotten slower and worse defensively. Hopefully that will change when Carlo comes back.

Hes still the best offensive D . Great with the puck. Just hoping his stride comez back...when you're a small D skating is key.

BLACK EYE: Torey Krug had a rough game, and that’s an understatement. Krug was on ice for three of the five goals scored by the Panthers, and was torched along with Ryan Donato on Mike Matheson’s end-to-end rush up the ice that finished with a goal for Florida. Similarly, Krug fell down in the first period on the PP and that allowed Troy Brouwer to go on a shorthanded breakaway chance that Jaroslav Halak actually stopped at the end of the first period. On the other end of the ice only managed to get two of his shot attempts on net and had a couple of giveaways for a B’s team that was playing way too loose with the puck. Krug has had some bumps in the road defensively in recent games as he tries to turn up the offense, but it was much worse than that against Florida.

When I see him getting abused defensively on a fairly regular bases, I can’t help but think a team like Tampa will be licking their chops to exploit this in the playoffs.

While I agree he's pretty blah defensively... There wasn't one Bruins player on the ice for a goal scored, either.

Krugs defensive play against Florida and pretty much for the past few games has been terrible.

From krug scoring on tuukka the other night, the poor defensive sequences with gryz the other night as well and then last nights debacle, it’s just been really tough to watch him. At least in the defensive zone.

Bruins really need to get healthy on defense, if this time with major injuries has shown anything it’s that Krug can’t handle higher levels or competition. Need to go back to putting him on the ice 5v5 against mostly 3rd and 4th liners, heavy offensive zone starts and heavy power play minutes.

Time to trade Krug. He holds enough value for us to get something good in return, but he has been outplayed by younger cheaper players. Offensive specialist who helps immensely on the PP, but whose defensive deficiencies make him a bottom pairing dman. Must sell now, before he loses value on the market.

Unfortunately I think the league sees the same as you do

Only gm I think that would take him for a reasonable return is the guy that signed him to that extension

Would love for the guys that know better than me what he may be worth in trade. My opinion would be a decent in the NHL forward prospect and a high pick with us retaining salary ?

Krug isn’t short on mistakes, but he’s easily a net positive. So, he can stay.
this is a very dishonest claim. he is a big-time minus getting worse. this is not offset by the effect he has on the power-play success nor his "leadership/intangibles." Krug is a liability, for sure. his high value, redundancy in the roster, contract position all suggest a trade before the first game of next season. if they like any offers before then, they should not hesitate. people hate on plus/minus because they miss the basic concept that a team needs to score more than allow goals in order to win. Krug is a minus. he is a relative minus. the powerplay is not demonstrably enough better with him to offset the sieveness. he is the antiMiller. "but where will we get his offense?" from a forward in trade or hired with the salary saved.

Playoffs, we have to get there first! I don't see that happening this year unless Sweeney makes a deal to bring in some bigger forwards that can make a pass and hit the net. We are so soft and slow that I see us battling the Sens and Scabs for better draft positioning.

Is it wise to deal an elite offensive defensemen when your team can't score as is?

I think it depends on what their goal is.

In this case...if they think they can contend for a cup this year....then no.

If they don't think they're contenders this year and Krug can bring back a guy who is likely to score 20-25 with term left for the next 2-5 years, then maybe they should do it.

Personally, between McAvoy and Grizz, (Moore maybe too) I think the PP would be fine.

Long term, the defense is likely to include:

Carlo, Moore, Grizz, McAvoy, Vaakanainen, Lauzon --- if Krug can bring back a guy who can score and will be in his prime when that's the blue line...then I'm ok with it.

I can (and will) assure you, that there are teams out there more willing to take Griz back in a trade over Krug.

Of course, each team's individual circumstances has a lot to do with that, but it doesn't change things.

Do you feel it's more about salary/asset cost or ability?

Yes.... Because that way, it will just give this whiny crew more to ***** about. "WHY CANT WE FIND A GUY ON THE BACKEND WHO CAN PRODUCE OFFENSE?!?!?!?! ****ING SWEENEY!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!"

Remember when we were screaming for one for years and then went out an acquired Kaberle? The guy was tied for 3rd most points among d-men in the playoffs (actually tied Sieds) and people to this day still shit all over him.

I watched enough hockey to know that goal by Matheson last nite was because Krug never took the body along the boards afraid he would get run over.Care less what else people want to argue about here but defencemen need to play defence too.Yes he is excellent at offence and good on powerplay but at end of the day Bruins need help up front and his salary is looking like the one that should be moved to fix it.McAvoy can take his role on powerplay.Afterall you were saying on another thread he is the future #1.just saying.PS i doubt Bruins G M moves him anyhow and rides this out till healthy then reassess roster

IMO Gryz and McAvoy should give us plenty of offensive support on defense in the near future. Krug is the piece that I feel like could net us a scoring winger that we'd be willing to part with (because of the pending contract talks). Not a knock against Krug in the least bit though.
