Not a bad proposal, I just can’t think of a scenario where Calgary would trade a bonafide number 1D on a sweet contract to their most hated rival for a very good winger.

I think for any team to get Hamilton, the cost would be huge. For the Oilers, it would be ridiculous.
I personally don't think he is a bonafide number 1D. Easily top pair, but I'm not sure the defensive consistency is there to be called a true #1D man, but a strong argument could definitely be made for that.

And as for the whole rivalry thing, I think that gets blown way out of proportion by fans. The GMs are just men running a team looking to get better, and they don't have a hate vendetta that the fans do. They hate that their guy will be in division, but honestly I don't think the price would be higher for the Oilers or Canucks than it would be any of the California teams or Yotes.

Lol if the canucks wanted Hamilton the conversation would start with Boeser or maybe Pettersson. Don't know why people think the highest goalscoring d in the league will come cheap.

Sorry, I never even noticed the later talks, I have no idea who Saarijarvi is though.
Offensive defenseman, has struggled to win a spot on the Griffins because we have a ton of guys on defense there. Could end up being a bottom pair PP specialist.

So the final deal me/you have agreed upon is Nyq, AA, Saarijarvi, Holmstrom and a 2nd for Brodie, Fox, Ruz?

Do not like this at all. Keep it simple. Brodie, Ruz, for AA, Nyquist. I want no part of trading Fox.

I want a 2nd and Fox has no room here with Andersson coming up and Hamilton being apart of the future, the deal is fair for both sides and value is close, keeping it simple would be no trades or 1v1

Wrong. Fox has plenty of room here in 2 years. Fox has all the makings of being a top 4 d man, possibly a top 2 d man and you want to trade him for a 2nd, which you hope may, and i quote, may turn into another Fox?

Giordano- Hamilton
Valamaki-Fox
Kylington-Andersson

There is the future defence once Hamonic, Brodie, and Stone contracts are up, or they are traded. I could see resigning Hamonic in which case Kylington would be the 7th d man.

Answer me this, do you see Hamilton resigning? (Yes) Do you see Hamonic resigning (Yes, possibly) Do you see Andersson making the jump before Fox? (Yes) Do you see Andersson with top 4 potential? (Yes)
The answers in (Brackets) are my answers to the questions i asked, now can you answer them for me?

It's gonna be Brodie, even though he is probably going to be sold at a discount. Giordano is the heart and soul of the Flames and won't be moved. Hamilton is too good offensively to be moved. Hamonic wouldn't return close to what they gave up to get him last summer, so he won't be moved. It's going to be Brodie.

So you expect them to let go of all 3 of them(Brodie, Hamonic, Stone) and bring up four kids who have played under 5 games all together so far in the NHL? isn't the probability of prospects are 1 in 3 make the jump? I'd bet on Valimaki* and Andersson out of the 4 (Fox and Kylington) making the jymp and succeeding in top 4 roles, not as partners but separated so they both have a veteran to help them line up like this the following years
Gio-Hamilton
Valimaki-Hamonic
Brodie-Andersson
Kulak-Kylington

My bet is Stone goes this Summer to make room for Andersson, Brodie goes next summer to make room for Valimaki

They won't get much of anything for Stone. Don't get me wrong, I think he goes too, but he won't go for much. If they truly want to make a change and get that first round pick or add a scoring forward, I don't see how they do it without trading one of the top 4 defensemen.

The thing is, Flames moving Brodie equals Valimaki being pushed into a top 4 role, Flames moving Hamonic pushes Stone up or forces Andersson into a top 4 role or having a sophomore Kulak being played with a rookie Andersson, Flames moving Stone allows Andersson to develop in a bottom pairing role or limited minutes in a top 4 (with Hamonic getting some time every game with Brodie, I propose moving Stone for a 2nd + 3rd (easily get it with the supply and demand of rhd) and bringing up Andersson and splitting up the 2nd pair to help all 4 players (Brodie, Hamonic, Kulak and Andersson round out their games) with pairings of Kulak-Hamonic and Brodie-Andersson as the bottom four, it'd be smarter and safer to do.

I don't think it necessarily means Valimaki gets thrown into a top 4 role. It could I guess, but if they move Brodie and not stone, you have:

Gio - Hamilton
Stone - Hamonic
Kulak - Andersson

It might be worth running with that if you can get a decent right winger or middle six centre for Brodie.

Glen doesn't play d on their offside so that's where Kulak or Valimaki gets thrown into a top 4 role, he should have Brodie on the right if he wanted to make a smart coaching decision, Hamonic-Brodie instead of Brodie-Hamonic would be a better set up, I'd much prefer him just moving a rightie to bring up Andersson

i still dont see why the flames trade a defender in their top 4, why meddle with something that isnt broke, TJ had a bad year but having a new partner can do that. I think the defense will only get better. sign grabner as a free agent and youll be good to go

awful proposal
Habs fan keep trying to sell Lehkonen on everyone like hes some budding star waiting to happen.

Hes a finnish player with no finnish.
(waited a long time to say that one :naughty: )

Anyway, Europe and the AHL is filled with those kinds of players (that skate around real fast and not doing much else)

Yup. Lehkonen isn't much other than a 4th liner.

Gio was a late bloomer. He doesn't have the miles on him that someone like Doughty does.
