Yandle won't be resigned and/or will choose not to to resign. He's got a coach that won't play him top-four minutes and won't use him on the the first power play unit. The coach and the organization as a whole are enamored with Staal and Girardi and will not ask them to lift their NMCs.

If Buchnevich doesn't come over next year, he's never coming.

The Rangers might well end up with nothing to show for that draft.

If they don't resign him, then they should trade him at the deadline. I'm going to flip if they just lose him for nothing after giving up a 1st and Duke to get him.

AV is also so stubborn and weird sometimes. Giving more minutes to Staal instead of Yandle. Makes absolute zero sense. I can Yandle not wanting to resign based on this. It's another Tanner Glass situation part 2.

Getting Graves, Tambellini and Skapski alone could be considered a good draft for a team that had a pick in every round.

Another game without a point and another loss for Severstal. Thats two games in a row without a point.

Pavel was one of the few players on Severstal who wasn't terrible. Even when he doesn't score, he usually plays well. They are just such a brutally bad team that games like this are going to happen. He had over 24 minutes of ice time, which should give you an idea of how important he is to the team. Thats virtually unheard of for a forward.

Another 5 SOG. That's 10 in in the last two games despite having no points. I think if you put him with some of the talented guys on our team he will consistently produce. It's too bad he has little help over there

too much negativity here. buchnevich will come to the nhl. all good young russians want to play here and playing in nyc is a dream.

he's good buddies with kuznetsov. kuznetsov is now finding his game and is quickly becoming a big time threat for the caps. word is this kid is having a terrific season so far. same with panarin in chi town , they are all buddies. the next wave of young russian studs is already here. tampa has won with young talented russians. pavel will be the next in line.

he is certainly one of the best offensive talents in the khl this season even being so young and playing on such an awful team. imagine his stats if he played on lokomotive ??

dont kid yourself, buchnevich is coming and he's coming in the spring depending on the championship roster. but honestly, this is about fall of next season. thats when he will make his impact. he will be the 2rw on this team next fall or maybe 3rw. doesnt matter. he has a spot waiting. av and gordie both know it.

24-25 minutes per game is pretty crazy for a forward. The average forward gets 15 minutes (60 minutes divided by 4 lines). That means he's getting almost double the average ice time.

I'd like some of it to be about the spring of this season. Adding a quality third liner who provides scoring depth could be the difference between winning the Cup and losing in the ECF.

He almost never plays that much.

His average on the season is 17:30 minutes of ice. One game he will play him 23 minutes, then all of a sudden plays 14 minutes the next.

I'd be shocked if they weren't.

His surrounding cast is one of the factors to remember when comparing Buch to other top Russian forwards at a young age.

who were Tarasenko and Kuznetsov's linemates in their final years?
internet says Tarasenko had the following teammates: Kovalchuk, Tikhonov, Thoresen, Prucha :D
Kuz's were: Andrei Kostitsyn, Jan Bulis, Stan Chitsov, and a lot of lesser known names.

so looks like Tarasenko had a far superior supporting cast. Potentially less ice time? But also might mean he was on the 1st PP unit with Kovy?

yeah, meanwhile I don't recognize a single name on Buch's team. Even a few former NHLers must be nice to have on your team. I'm hoping the lack of supporting cast and overall mediocre performance of his team really motivate him to come over. Can see him with Kreider & Stepan. those two could certainly use some help this season.

Completely agree on this teammates observation.

With that said, Buch has responded very well to being a focal point of other team's efforts and having to shoulder a lot of responsibility.

Personally, I see that experience as a big plus and was never upset by his decision to stay in the KHL.

Is there any chance of Buch playing with the Rangers this season?

he would be allowed to join them, per NHL, once his league commitment ends (Klingberg too)
and his team wont go deep in KHL playoffs,

but if Russia names him to their team for World Championships
(overlaps into 2nd/3rd NHL playoff rounds),
probably not

Now I see why Vlad is so good...

Prucha is what the KHL is about. Not quite on par with the NHL, but a player who would abuse the AHL if he were there. He'd make for a fine linemates for Butcher this season in the KHL.

Buchnevich's pointless streak ends at 2 games, he just tied the game 2-2 midway through the 2nd period.

edit - GORGEOUS goal. Makes a great play in the defensive zone to steal the puck, quickly passes it up to a teammate with one hand and absolutely takes off with some serious speed to create a 2 on 1, gets the puck back by the offensive blue line for a semi breakaway to score :handclap:

doubt edit - he also is now clean shaven again ;)

And....Buch scores his 2nd of the game :handclap: They are down 4-3 though. Incoming Hatty again? One period remaining.

This one was an ABSOLUTE ROCKET slapper from the top of the circle on the PP.

You can see the KHL video's there, but they take a long time to load and the quality is pretty terrible. The YT version is usually released an hour or 2 after the game ends.

BTW Buch tried everything to score in the 3rd, had 5 shots on goal one more in OT, total of 11 for the game. Shooutout time. He was stopped in the shootout and they lost.
