Flyers are said to be heavily interested in Da Costa

http://www.cbc.ca/sports/blogs/elliottefriedman/2011/01/let-the-bidding-begin.html

The belief is that Da Costa will leave college after this season, and can be counted on to play next year - at the latest. It all comes down to what's available on the team he signs with. For example, Philadelphia is believed to be an aggressive pursuer, but look at that lineup. Scouts believe Da Costa needs to play on your top lines with power play time to be successful, and there's not a lot of room there.

NHL scouts have probably noticed Swedish defender Sebastian Erixon.

http://eliteprospects.com/player.php?player=5546

A speedy defender born 1989, never got drafted (a mystery to me but could be due to his size (5,11"/183lbs).

The guy took a big step this season and has been really good. He is fast and will try to join the attack. Isn't the best defender in the world in his own zone though.

A few videos:

http://svtplay.se/v/2272289/sebastian_erixon_kvitterar_till_3-3

http://tik.hockeyligan.se/?contentid=356512849921 <- Erixon has nr 50, you can see his handywork 40 seconds in (to about 1:20)

Edit: the local papper ran this article today -> http://dagbladet.se/sport/1.2666780-nhl-intresse-for-erixon. The article basically says that NHL-scouts/teams has had their eyes on him ever since he played in the world juniors a few years ago.

KHLs St. Petersburg has also shown interest in him and might be willing to buy him out of his contract so NHL-teams might have some competition for his signature.

What do you guys think of Matt DiGirolamo, goaltender for UNH? He's led them to a 12-4-4 record, has pretty decent stats, and UNH is atop Hockey East, ahead of teams like Boston College and Boston University. I haven't seen him play, but for anyone who has, is it him, or the team?

Spotted this guy mentioned in the most recent Red Line Report: http://www.usatoday.com/sports/hockey/columnist/woodlief/2011-01-19-red-line-report_N.htm

Red Line Report said:
NHL teams are showing significant interest in Brown University forward Harry Zolnierczyk, and rightfully so. He was the buzz player of Notre Dame's Shillelagh Tournament over the Christmas holidays. He's an undrafted, 23-year-old late bloomer who's going to be a much sought-after free agent by NHL teams come the end of the college season in March.

Our man at the tourney filed this report on the 5-11, 183-pound center: Zolnierczyk is an extremely tough, character player. Very tenacious and competitive – outworks opponents all over the ice. He's a strong skater who excels at lowering the shoulder and driving the net. Finishes well offensively and is a grimy checker. Relentless in puck pursuit and a sharp penalty-killer. Very physical and is built for the pro-game. Difficult to play against. So far has 49 PIMs to go along with 8 goals and 17 points in 12 games.

If you Google his name, the first entry is a news article from a few years ago regarding Zolnierczyk pleading guilty to distributing some lewd images of an acquaintance. Hopefully you can chalk that up to him making a bad decision as a teenager. Updated stats for the season:

16 gp, 11g, 12a, 23p, 71pim, 4ppg, 2shg, 3gwg

I haven't seen UNH but I hope the Habs are keeping an eye on Pat Nagle from Ferris State.

Nagle caught my eye about a month ago with his ridiculous stats which have come back to Earth after he got chased by Michigan last week. Watched three Ferris State games since then and tried to play armchair scout. He's good size and quickness. Does have issues with rebound control though. But he was definitely a guy I wouldn't mind the Devils taking a chance on as adding another AHL goalie to go with Frazee doesn't seem like a terrible idea.

He attended Dallas's prospect camp last summer and seemingly held his own. The common sentiment seemed to be that everybody went to see their previously drafted goalie prospects and were left asking "Wait, who is this Nagle guy?"

I wasn't sold on Muse at all the past two years. Even though he's on an absolutely stacked roster I have to admit, he's been awesome. He's everything that team needs, and that's a big game goalie. I do really like Da Costa, his slick style would translate well in the NHL.

A great player. Works extremely hard, fast as hell. I think It would be worth a team signing him to an AHL team to see if he can develop into a servicable NHL'er which i think he can.

Andrej Stastny has just played 9 games for Vancouver since coming over from Slovakia and has 10 points. He turned 20 (today), but he has great size and I think he's got a shot.

Thanks for this thread! I started looking at NCAA seniors who are undrafted earlier this yr.

Paul Thompson from New Hampshire seems like he could be an interesting UFA, good size (6'0" 210lbs) and started producing last yr as a junior. Currently he's top 10 in NCAA scoring.

Stats:
Season Team Lge GP G A Pts PIM
2007-08 U. of New Hampshire H-East 35 6 6 12 22
2008-09 U. of New Hampshire H-East 27 4 5 9 22
2009-10 U. of New Hampshire H-East 39 19 20 39 24
2010-11 U. of New Hampshire H-East 22 17 17 34 18

Justin Fontaine from Minnesota-Duluth is another senior who looks like a really decent possible UFA signing. His stats are pretty impressive and probably more developed than other players available.
