Why are you trying to make this about Manning? And he's been there for disappointing Super Bowl losses including getting absolutely spanked by the Seahawks only a couple years ago yet he managed to suck it up and do the press conference without coming off as a baby.
Not making it aobut manning at all. Hes one of the great ones.

I actually dont care, whether you believe it or not. This is sidetracked. All I'm saying is, if you want to start talking about why people dont like him, there's plenty to go on that has absolutely zero to do with his skin color. His being black doesn't dictate his behavior any more than me being black means I can't be posting on a hockey message board.

I have always liked him as a player but I do think he has some growing up to do if he is going to be the new torch bearer or whatever for qbs, pretty obvious especially after tonight. The position he plays simply demands a little more. He had his Willie Beamen moment tonight that's for sure. He will have to grow and learn from it.

So you decide to attack his character after losing the biggest game of his career.

CAMPBELLTOWN, Australia (Reuters) - The numbers were modest and the hour a lot less sociable than in California but Australian NFL fans had themselves a proper Super Bowl party in the hometown of San Francisco 49ers punt returner Jarryd Hayne on Monday.

Australia has traditionally had one of the highest viewing figures pro rata for the Super Bowl outside the United States with some 200,000 out of a population of 23 million tuning in for the 2014 showpiece.

Also who cares about cams behavior last night. Everyone was just pissed off at him for dancing around and being happy. Are you serious with that. He's allowed to be emotional.

He could have been more conciliatory after the game but who cares. This isn't hockey. These guys aren't going to gather at midfield after the game and start a handshake line.

Cam is just a fun loving kid so let him enjoy the game. I know it may be difficult for many to grasp as they want him to be "classy" by their standards, which probably means he doesn't celebrate at all or "tones it down". The guy is giving balls to kids. And you say it's classless. Give me a ****ing break.

Hell baby
While a lot of the criticism of Newton is a little over the top, he certainly isn't beyond reproach for his refusal to get after the fumble and his attitude in the post game.

That being said he isn't a bad guy like some people want to believe- he's just a disappointed competitor who probably hasn't had to handle a loss like that in his entire life. He's young. He'll grow and learn.

Its not just the dancing, its just the general cockiness. He was all smiles during the Arizona game but not in this one.

I mean Aaron Rodgers has a smugness to him and does his belt gesture after a TD but at least he will man up and give a proper press conference after he loses a game. He doesnt hide.

Cam has a huge ego. When he loses he acts like a little kid in Toys R Us who doesnt get his way.[/

Well said.

I wonder if that incomplete call changed the complexion of the entire game.

Ummmmm no.

In particular Can himself. The dude deserves all the criticism he gets now to be honest. This team was so cocky and like many cocky teams before them if it doesn't go their way they take the low road. There's no in between. Cam's press conference was a joke. His performance was not good one bit. However he never really blamed himself for making mistakes. He never really congratulated Denver or gave them atleast the credit they deserved for playing really good defense. That reporter asking about the TV comparison and he's like no. Like he wasn't even more impressed by their D or anything. I have no idea how anyone with a straight face could say that. They shut you down all but like one drive where Talib made dumb play after dumb play. They sacked you 6 times I believe and forced 4 turnovers which 3 of were by you and 2 were fumbles. There's another thing he can be criticized for....that fumble late in the game he just stood there pretty much and didn't even fight for the ball. What a leader this guy is! I wish I had the time to hear sports talk radio today. I anticipate a lot of criticism. I can't believe he also shut down the idea of learning from this loss like Denver did 2 years ago. Though I'd argue Denver had a bit of a different circumstance I suppose. They were missing their best defenders and Talib wasn't on the team yet.

What the hell are you talking about? In a presser where he said almost nothing else, he specifically named his bad passes and fumbles as reasons for the loss. AND he specifically said that the Broncos made big plays while the Panthers didn't.

I get that people didn't like his short answers and walking out, but it's ridiculous to tag him for not doing things that he DID do.

Edit: just watched the presser back. Direct quotes:

"We got outplayed."

"We got outplayed, man."

"They just played better than us. I don't know what you want me to say. They made more plays than us, and that's what it come down to."

"We dropped balls, we turned the ball over. Gave up sacks, errant passes."

Cam does have some growing up to do. No problems with his on-field behavior, but the franchise qb has to suck it up and deal with the tough questions at the podium. He's the leader of the team and league mvp. It's his job.

Still like him a lot and doubt this is the last time we see him on this stage.

Lol, whatever, the worst thing I said about him is he showed some immature behavior and has a lot of growing up to do. I'm such a meanie weenie.

Some of you guys are taking this stuff way too personally. If what I said got you so upset you'll probably want to stay away from reading any SB related coverage today.

I don't like his dancing, but that's just a personal thing. As a football player myself, I don't do that ****. But you see it all over the NFL, so whatever.

What I do have a problem with, however, was his actions after the game. If you're going to be so cocky and speak your voice when you're winning, man up and act like a mature adult when you lose. Combine that with his childish actions during the game (falling over on the sideline when the Panthers got a penalty, throwing a temper tantrum to the ref when he got nailed in the endzone at the end of the game), he just came off as very immature last night, and that was disappointing to see.

Very well stated. That's exactly as I see/saw his post game reaction last night.

You are both really opinionated on this, and seem to expect things from him when he really doesn't owe you anything at all.

Why are you so angry?

I don't like people that showboat or rub it in when they are winning. And it bothers me that people immediately jump to, "its a racial thing", when he's criticized. Plenty of people get crap for ****** reasons. But a lot of people seem to insist it's because Cams black that that's the reason he gets criticized. And while it may be true for a small portion of people. I don't think blatant racism is as prevalent as people like to think it is and my opinion of him being a child certainly has nothing to do with it.

And you're right. He doesn't owe me or any fans anything. If he wants to act like a child he can do so and I can take my shots at him for it. He does owe the Carolina Panthers though, both his teammates and the ownership. And he does owe the NFL because its his responsibility to talk with the press after the game, everyone has to.

I just realized another former niners won a ring too with Vernon Davis..

Kyle Williams as well, who infamously fumbled in the 2011 NFC Championship game will now get that ring!

Strange how he goes from goat to Super Bowl Champ..

I'd be pretty pissed if my opponent (it was Chris Harris doing his interview) who just beat me was across the room going, "Can you throw the football?"

Neither of them did anything! Don't think Williams even played a game.

So when Cam is dancing, showboating, acting goofy, etc., do opposing fans (the people who are demanding accountability from Newton) feel as if he is directly trash talking them?

Why would they feel this way.....?

Also Wolfe's hit was clean, I'm pointing out that Newton's lone outburst/showboat of the night was his reaction to that hit/the non-call. Yet it's the same old schlock of people feeling inordinate rage at Newton. It just seems odd to me.

EDIT: Hemsky says he showboated after the TD....I didn't see that on CBS, they kept cutting away from it to the replay of the TD/analysis. Count that as well.

Not saying you do, you clearly don't.

I don't speak for other fans. I said it all year about Carolina. You can talk trash and showboat all you want but take your medicine when you get smacked back. It makes them appear as front runners and paper tigers. Just my opinion as a guy who played a lot of football.

The "incomplete" pass was big, no doubt. But Carolina had three more quarters to figure out how to stop Denver from smothering them and never did. The Broncos salting the game away with that late forced fumble proved that.
