Erie barely plays Sudbury each year so I really haven't watched Byfield. For someone in the same boat, what do I look for in his game?

I would like the KED built on the McIssac property behind the Southridge mall/ Baycar Steel. Infrastructure is already in, access to the HWYs are everywhere, good hotels like the Hampton where most OHL teams already, excellent restaurants and close to Science North etc. This would be a good area.

It is nearly perfect really. It is a great location with lots of space and infrastructure in place, transportation routes could not be better, potentially a property tax bonanza; but, neither the city or the sports and entertainment group own the most valuable commercial land in the city. The biggest deterrent is it is not in the best interest of the ownership group to allow MacIsaac to benefit. And not developing the proposed land would be a big hit to Zullich/Deleece as it holds no value currently and they desperately want a road built for them for mobility of their construction interests.

'You need to educate yourself on the history how the KED came into play'...Pat Verbeek
Do tell Pat Verbeek....This proposal was started with Marianne Matichuck term on council and a call for big projects With a thought that we could get MAJOR Dollars from a casino to HELP pay for the cost of building an arena/entertainment venue and lessen the blow to the tax payers of this community. This council and the previous council now have the tax payer pickinging up the FULL cost of building the Arena/Entertainment Venue. $125 -150 million (but who really knows what the final cost will really be). And just too be clear for ALL those who still don't get it...ZULICH IS NOT PAYING FOR A NEW ARENA - THE TAX PAYER IS! 1.5% on our tax bill for how many years.
Have I missed anything? or do I need to educate myself somemore...if so tell me on what? It will take a few years but you and the taxpayers will find out how right councilor Signoretti was and is.

Tonight is the test first test for the new players. Barrie and North Bay aren't really a test and it is hard for a good player not to garner points. London will have there lineup back as last time I believe the team was missing 5 or 7 guys to 1 from Sudbury.

Let's see how this game goes, a true test in my opinion.

I don't want to go back on every detail, but I will simplify. Zulich approached the City for a P3 RFP, which means basically a Private and Public Partnership. Zulich would tender to build it with the backing and financial insurance by the City.

If Zulich company was tendered to build it and run it, with City financial insurance similar to the Biosoil P3 with Walker Environmental Group , the city would take ownership over a 10 year period.

So council decided didn't want to go that route and wanted to own the arena out right. The city had put Zulich site as one of the proposed sites to build the arena. Council voted for Zulich site, where Mr. Zulich sold the land for $10.

AN ARENA WAS GOING TO BE BUILT REGARDLESS of Zulich proposal because it was already went out to consultation for a new arena to be built. So arena was going to be paid with tax payer money anyways.

People are so ignorant how the KED played out and how it exist to this point. Zulich didn't force the City to build the city on his property. Zulich proposed a P3 model to the City, but council didn't want to go that route. Zulich site was proposed as one of the sites for the arena that Consultant had ranked many talking points at top of the list, the Downtown site was ahead but not by much from this consultant. The Consultant did say after a Casino was proposed to be in partner ship The Kingsway site would the preferred site. COUNCIL CHOSE TO PICK THE ARENA ON THE KINGSWAY NOT ZULICH. Zulich stated many times that an arena is needed, would prefer his site on Kingsway but if it would be built anywhere else he didn't have a problem with it.

Currently there is a partnership to build the KED, City, Casino and Hotel, they will all share in cost of building the KED, which having all 3 will alleviate cost to the tax payer.

Also, the Casino will give the City a certain percentage of profit they make back to the City. The City is estimating it could be around $9 million a year, which would go down to pay the cost of the KED each year. So basically the money we get from the Casino will pay for the KED overtime. Not bad idea I say.

Many of posters don't have a clue, just bark out false information, get educated on the topic.

Big test tonight. Sudbury usually puts on a good show in London. We'll need a full 60 minutes and full team effort if we want any chance at 2 points. Really hope the boys show up for this one. Lots of scouts will be in attendance. I've got a gut feeling Byfield is going to have a monster game in front of the Hunter brothers

London, Ontario
Byfield was in Hamilton last night. He didn't make the long trek back to Sudbury after the game when he's playing in London tonight or did he?
Just curious...

Is it common practice to delete someone's post?

My apologies for the last "political" comment.......

Thought a dose of humor was necessary.....

Turnovers and bad coverage by the defence has allowed Knights to score their goals.

Phillips why pinch at the blue line when you are killing a penalty. Looked silly!

Face offs are killing us and bad coverage in front of the net.

Purboo rebound control and prematurely going down. And didn’t challenge on the first Gusiov goal.

Chenier and Pekar non factors. Chenier not playing with the same zip as in North Bay. Still not sure about that deal. Bulitka played 5 seasons and knows the systems. Not sure about this deal.

This test for Sudbury has been a fail. They don’t play a simple mistake free game. Turnovers and not protecting the Center of the ice with London’s stretch passes.

Byfield and Murray cannot play soft. They are centres and need to be more aggressive and finish checks. Byfield has to get more mean out there.

Sorry Papineau I don’t see this team winning much. The same defensive mistakes. Have to question some coaching. I think the father in law was a difference last year.

Forgot to mention really miss the strong forechecking that the Pilons provided last year. Really is a difference maker in this line up. Change the tempo of games and push the play back into London’s zone. Sudbury needs to find a way better compete level of play.

When will Sudbury be true contenders? Any guesses folks?
How long until we make the finals again or win a Championship? Is 2024 the goal for Dario and Paps?

:nopity::nopity::nopity: 3 years in ownership and management I guess we should win the Memorial Cup this year.

Good First period, London dominated Second Period, Third Period even. I believe Wolves put an honest effort, London the better team, got chippy at the end. I thought all in all Purboo played a good game. I thought the Fourth line, Manikas, Stillman, and McCallum played very well tonight. The other lines got to get going, seem to be not in-sync, a lot bad passing, hot potato out there. Need to win tomorrow.

yeah, a good run is expected after having spent all of the assets acquired from the trading Lalonde, Bowman, Lyszcarczyk, Pezzetta, O’Grady, Sokolov during the tank for Byfield.
