Great deal. Locked up in his prime at a very affordable cap hit. Can deal him at a deadline if needed. Plenty of suitors will be willing to take him at that low of a hit.

That's a good AAV. Term is long, but most UFA contract term is. And Saad's only turning 29 this year. The NTC is tricky in case he doesn't fit though.

Cheap to buy out in his final year, if it comes to that. Sensible signing for a team that has been less than sensible on occasion.

Is he really top 6 though? Seems like more of an awesome 3rd line winger. I'll be thrilled if he puts up better line 2 production.
He's absolutely a scoring line forward who is responsible enough to play in a checking role as well. I'd say he's pretty clearly in the "2nd line forward" tier.

He scored the 2nd most goals for the Avs this past playoffs, only trailed MacKinnon

That's a perfectly acceptable contract.

St. Louis is looking strong up front.. The defense though?

I'm not going to lie...don't hate the deal. I thought he was going to get 30 million. I think this is a better signing than Schwartz.

never forget how people thought he was a cap dump player because he played on terrible chicago teams after he came back, avs fans got to see he's a really solid top 9 forward that can play anywhere in lineup

How much do you think guys who put up 20+ consistently get paid in the NHL?

More than this normally, I really like this contract.

I think 20 goal guys normally get 5.5 to 6 million if it wasn't for Covid.

Hell Brandon Saad at 4.5 x 5 B. Goodrow for 3.6x6. Goodrow. Take Saad everyday.

Hyman, Coleman, etc.

Loved this deal, loved the Toffoli deal, and like the Hoffman deal (he isn't anywhere near as good defensively as the other 2)
