Many posters were in the room during trade talks, and they positively know that Bob Murray was only talking to Botterill and no other deals on the table for Montour. They know exactly what Murray was/wasn't willing to take in the deal...

I don't like the condition on the 1st either, but the last several years we've seen a massive metric @#$%-ton of conditions put on draft picks in trades. Blame ALL GMs for this stuff, because they ALL do it.

Edit - I just hope the Blue Jackets pass StL tonight (and StL doesn't win two rds) so we can stop hearing the never-ending collapse of the world because Anaheim got a few spots better pick.
And if anything, the condition is a favour to us, not the Blues... That's why I don't understand the griping.

Doesn’t the playoffs matter? If a team makes the conference finals they pick in the last 4.

Carolina and Jets both hold the tiebreaker over STL.

IF STL loses in regulation, all we need is CBJ to pick up 1 point in their game against Ottawa.

That way STL will finish 13th overall (which gives them the 19th overall pick).

However, it all depends on playoffs too then. If STL wins 2 rounds, which seems very possible, then it would be a moot point.

Yeah so it's both. Blues lose, and then also don't make a deep run.

Jackets need to win in general. Blues up 1-0 dammit.

If St. Louis gets 0 pts then

only need Columbus to get a point the St. Louis is st 19

If St. Louis gets 1 pt thrn
Carolinaand WPG need 1 pt and Columbus needs 2 pts

Even if st Louis was in 20...if a team below them wins 2 series, then St. Louis is pushed down.

Tanner Persson with a hell of a goal. He’s really found his game in Vancouver. Getting rid of Gudbranson was amazing....having Persson become a decent 2/3 line player makes this deal look like a bit of a steal for Benning.

Ugh...Tarasenko with a bullet. Demko maybe down a bit too soon but can’t fault him he has played well today.

Great job by GMJB turning Kane and O’Reilly into a late 1st, a far from
NHL ready (Thompson) prospect and two RFA years of Montour. And we got great cap dumps. Two whiffs.

Sighhh. Oh well...

So with that STL shootout win, we need:

- NSH win over CHI
- WPG win over ARZ
- CAR win over PHI
- PIT to get a point vs. NYR

As well as...

- STL not winning 2 rounds
- AND one of VGK/CBJ/DAL/COL winning 2 rounds
(- or if any of NSH/WPG/CAR/PIT get passed by STL tonight, they/another one of VGK/CBJ/DAL/COL have to make final 4 too)

In otherwords, unlikely to say the least.

So barring this all happening, we get the later of SJS/STL (good chance that is 28-31).

Alright, time to turn the focus to tonight's battle for 4th.

Re: the bolded

Wouldn't we still get the later of SJS/STL, even if this all happens?

IF all that happens,

that leaves St. Louis finishing 12th in the final standings.

Which gives them the 20th overall position.

but then one team below them (VGK/CBJ/COL/DAL) making the final 4 would push their pick back to the 28-31 slots that are designated for the final 4.

Meaning St. Louis would get the 19th pick, which we keep under the conditions.

Like I said, highly unlikely.

I guess we can continue this thread through the playoffs, because we need BOTH St. Louis and San Jose to get knocked out in the first 2 rounds

Tankathon | 2019 NHL Draft Order & Lottery Simulator

Tankathon has the St. Louis pick at #22 and the San Jose pick at #24.

I assume that’s where they will stay unless either make it to the conference finals (which I am not convinced will happen with either)
I just clicked the lottery simulator and guess who won?

The league nightmare happened again. Lol

The #’s right now has 22nd and 24th pick, does it really matter if we pick 19 or 24? Seriously?

I clicked it like 7 times in a row, and we dropped at least 1 spot every time. I'm not convinced it's accurate.
